Trading Barton sure worked out well. Even with the players you suggested, they aren't all the sudden vaulted to a contending team. And in essence, they'd be losing Simons and Collins for nothing.
Harkless hasn't played for shit since he left Portland. Stotts isn't some miracle worker.
I'll never forgive you for posting this.
since cj came back, Ant's gotten two DNP-cds. why do even need him?If we trade away Simons we need a ball handling guard in return
I'm hoping we can stop talking about him at the end of the season because I'm pretty sure most of us only talk about him because every year multiple outlets talk about how much Olshey likes him and that gets this shit going.Aaron Gordon is our new Courtney Lee. Until he retires or is no longer breathing he will be talked about as a trade target.
Well if they just want someone "good" and 24 is young enough. I would bet that Neil would get on the phone with Houston, guarantee that pick and send Hoodie, DJ and a future first to Orlando in a heartbeat. That's especially if Olshey is still not sure which direction he wants to go with Gary. I think we would all be cool with that deal. Most of us want Hoodie out of the rotation to give Nas more minutes and I think most of us see Gordon as an upgrade over DJ that would justify a first rounder, especially if we are about winning right now.
That's fair. I think the furthest I would go if I was the GM is Hoodie, Jones, Ant and a pick. I wouldn't want to give up Hoodie, Jones and Nas even if meant keeping that pick. If we're about winning now we need Nas as a backup forward much more than we need Ant as a backup guard. Also, you can't always think short term even when trying to go all in. Giving up Nas and DJ just feels bad to me if we're not getting a bigger difference maker than Gordon in return.Yeah, I would give them Hood and Jones if Neil intended to keep Trent. I honestly consider Jones a good young player.
Then sure throw in a lottery-protected pick or Simons. (but not both)
But I would not even think about including Little in a package for Gordon.
It would take a better player than that to include Nassir. He has too much potential
We need to have the mindset of building to win NOW, not draft picks. Dame and CJ aren't getting younger.I dont love the idea of throwing ANOTHER pick out there in trade, but I wonder if Neil is thinking of it as a job saver. If you fail miserably and get fired, you won't be around for that pick anyways.
If Shams knows what he's talking about and this really is the guy that Olshey has picked as his savior maybe we see some crazy action at the deadline.
https://www.si.com/nba/trailblazers...erest-in-aaron-gordon-ahead-of-trade-deadlineWhen did Shams speak on this?
I really like Jones too but why should he be off the table? Covington and Gordon would be an upgrade at the forward positions. I would rather have Covington at SF anyway.I would do Hood + Trent + Collins.
I want to keep Jones.
Then fill out the roster with whoever we find in the buyout market.
It would be hard to ask Roco to switch onto shifty guards like Murray, Mitchell, Fox, or Curry, etc for 94 feet. DJ can do that easily with his foot speed. Jones brings defensive versatility that we do not have on the roster otherwise. Simons would be forced to guard smaller guards for a few mins in the playoffs. Dont want that.I really like Jones too but why should he be off the table? Covington and Gordon would be an upgrade at the forward positions. I would rather have Covington at SF anyway.
