I see this question thrown around a lot in threads so I think we should have a sticky with the Blazers current cap situation going into the summer.

The Blazers’ cap situation is fluid based on the $36.8 million in free-agent cap holds.

Portland does have the ability to create close to a max salary slot ($21 million) and still have the option of bringing back its restricted free agents. To do so, the cap holds of Gerald Henderson, Chris Kaman and Brian Roberts would need to be released.

MODS: I think it would be helpful to sticky this so we have less confusion about exact dollar amounts for the players on our team.

I thought Crabbe's cap hold was $1.2M?

Great thread and post but it's Kaman, Alexander, Montero, and in the last month Meyers, who sat on the bench and cheered like rally girls. They're the ones who got paid a rallary.

By keeping go of Kaman/Roberts/Henderson we'd have $25.5M in cap space, way more than needed for the $21M max slot, and right at the $25 max. If we signed a center for a little more than we had we'd either renounce Meyers or trade Plumlee for a pick.

Since the summer is officially over I'm going to unsticky this thread.
