#Blazers, Pres Chris McGowan & new corporate partner will make major announcement about future of RG/RQ campus at press conference tomorrow.

They used to be cool maaaaaan.

The Blazers sold out years ago when they created Blaze. I used to be so proud of our team for not having some cheesy mascot. What exactly a cat has to do with the Portland Trail Blazers is beyond me. I hate mascots.

Maybe the corporate partner is actually the nhl and we're getting a team? :MARIS61:

We should have stole the Sasquatch from Seattle.

The Mrs HCP Garden

Over 1 million served!

I don't get the hate behind this? It's an opportunity for an owner to make some cash, and it's better this than them moving or raising ticket prices. if the fucking Boston Garden can get a corporate sponsorship, so can the Rose Garden.

I would be shocked if it's not MODA. I think Ropp got word of it, and they were just crossing I's and dotting T's

Personally, I don't care about the naming rights. But that damn Blaze.....

Always hated Blaze. there were a lot of other things on trail rides they could have had as a mascot. People dying of exposure, slaves, etc

I know what it is and you don't!

Sent from HCPs Baller-Ass iPhone 5...FAMS!

I think it's hilarious that Memphis has a "Grizzly" mascot.

That's a result of a team moving. Vancouver BC has Grizzlies.

The worst one is the Jazz or the Lakers. Even the Pelicans are better than those. At least the friggin bird is from NOLA...

Whatever else it is, it is an all-time new low for the team that Larry and Stu built.

Tennessee HAD Grizzlies before they were wiped out.

That would be sick. But there's prob too much red tape and conflicting interests with other teams and apparel to make it happen.

WOuldn't that be like Gatorade at the Pepsi Center? Seems to be fine.

Guessing it's more of a local brand. ODS/Moda, Burgerville, Fred Meyer/Kroger, Kaiser, etc. Wells Fargo woulda been a possibility too, but I think they're too poor to finance the names of arenas in both Philly and PDX. Would prefer Nike/Adidas/Intel as they would at least be recognizable nationwide.

Edit: Guess it depends on how much $ PA is gonna charge and whether the local companies can afford it.

Why would a local only company spend any money to advertise on an arena?

LMAO! RON TONKIN CENTER!

To get more exposure in the area?

Like Chesepeake Energy Arena, or Bankerslife Fieldhouse, or BMO Harris Bradley Center, or Energy Solutions Arena, etc etc

I think some of it is the fear of sucktitude. What are the odds it is a name that isn't embarrassing on some level, or simply bad sounding? Like "MODA"? (Which is latin for I forget what, which I'm sure makes MODA's customers feel all warm and fuzzy, or it might if they had any fucking idea what MODA fucking means.)

Anyway...Rose Garden is roundly felt to be a good name, one with local significance that we are proud of. We don't want to be like those uncool fans with an uncool name or be associated with some corporation with no local history or connection.

I doubt he would want his companies stamp on any part of this but

Nike Pavillion or The Swoosh would be cool.
