Trade Blazers trade Simons for Holiday

Garland is trash. The Cavs have been trying to offload him as long as we had Anfernee.
25 year old two time allstar - certainly not trash.

I get you prefer different types of players.

Think the Cavs its more that Garland isn't an ideal fit with Mitchell. Similarly they might consider trading Allen since they have Mobley.

I don't see any other team being very interested in Holiday. Apparently none of them wanted to give more than what Portland gave to acquire him from Boston. So why would they want to give even as much to Portland now to get him?

You very well may be right.

Only counter point is Boston was in a strict position of needing to cut salary this season which they cut about $10 million by getting Ant. Portland can do a Jrue trade with another team for similar salary or even take on some more.

I just don’t see the contract the Jrue is on as all that bad. The guy is an all nba defender and has been very healthy. He’s tough as nails and he impacts winning.
If the Blazers look into trading him there will be plenty of teams that want him.

Yup. The Celtics had a very specific need. Scoring and cutting salary. There were only a few scenarios that would have truly worked for them.

Some big time Drama Queen Arm-Chair-GMs in here.

WTF don’t you just wait and see what else we do before tomorrow prior to jumping off of a building
Don't be so hasty. Do you know how many internet points you can get for yelling "jump!" at people on ledges?

Ant is not getting much love as he’s been traded like CJ or other ex blazers who got moved. Shows sort of how he never really grew into the franchise player. He never really generated any buzz as the last starter announced at home games. It’s that lack of swagger that makes me happy we’ve moved on

CJ got love because he played with a better team. A playoff-winning team that reached the Western finals. Ant was part of a tank job. Not a whole lot of excitement the last two years.

He's just never been an Alpha and never will...not franchise player material win or lose.

It really comes down to his play as he ages. If Jrue played at his age 33 level when the Celtics won the title the contract is a steal. But he had a major drop off last year. Was that due to age or fluke injuries?

Some allstars have had great seasons at 35-39 the last few years. But theres other guys that were completely unplayable and not even a useful bench level player. On a $100 million deal Jrue has a high bar to provide value.

Will Jrue age as Steph/CP3/LBJ/Durant/Horford did with great production? Then its a great contract.

Will Jrue play like Patty Mills and Kyle Lowry did the last two years? Then its a horrible contract.

If thats the bar then almost all players will dissapoint.

How many franchise level players have the Blazers had this century?

Wallace, Roy, LMA, Dame.... thats about it. Maybe Zbo?

While probably 200 guys have played for the team. So its about 98% of Blazers that are not franchise level material.

Ant had some hype like Scoot and Sharpe do today. But never really fulfilled what we hoped from his first few years. Probably didn't help that he was stuck on tanking rosters and other short guards.

Odds are most the guys with potential won't hit it. All of Wallace/Roy/Dame showed they were franchise material year 1 here. LMA and ZBo are the types that took a few years - so I guess we hope that Scoot/Sharpe follow their career archs. Or we just accept there is no potential franchise guy on our roster.

Seems like another example of a player getting overpaid (not his fault) and fans reacting negatively.
The guy was the 24th pick. He exceeded my expectations, not sure why you ever thought he should have been a franchise player.

It wasn't me who thought that...he's the guy they crowned when Dame left...listen to Mark Mason announce starters at home games...Ant is the last announced and that's not the fan's choosing to crown him...that's the management...in my view he never owned it and that's my opinion, not me feeding negativity into the conversation..just observation. I've wanted him gone since he was a rookie because I saw him as a player...not as a draft number. I'm sure he has many fans...I'm not one. Really glad he's gone.

No. That comes from other tweets/articles I have read.
If true, today is gunna be a significant day for the blazers, one us fans will look back one day and say, "it was that day that ignited the return of portland basketball to mainstream relevance."

The sarcasm is noted. Well done!

Wow...just locally and down at the oregon coast once in a while. Thats neat about your pop, I wasnt close to being a professional those guy's were a league of their own. Did he ever play The Chili Bowl in Newport Oregon? They had some pro tourneys. I haven't touched a table in almost 25 years.

Ill have to ask him. Ill try to remember to take a few pictures and post them tonight.

I came here to see all the verbal and mental gymnastics done to turn this into a good trade for us... 35 years old, still owed 100M...
