Did you really think I needed reminding that you're the champion of the stinks on ice view that there were realistic trade options for Grant? The season following July 2023 when he gleefully penned his name to the monstrous escalating contract that he'll be on for 3 more seasons he played okay, like at the level of an average NBA starter. Unfortunately for Portland, his contract allots him an All Star's percentage of the cap. Whats the best ability? Of course it's availability and the new 30 year old capped that meh of a season by missing 1/3rd of it. Unfortunately for Portland, not being available is an established norm for him as he's averaged missing over 1/3rd of the season for the past 4 seasons.
That you couldn't tell this was a massive overpay at the time it went down is not a badge of honor. Jerami's play never justified that sort of contract and sans Dame Portland was clearly no where close to a playoff level roster, so wheres the motivation to tie up finances with an oft injured not that great of a player cresting 30? I've no idea what Shelburne "reported" but the time line speaks for itself and many posters called it as such... is there some reason you didn't link this mystery reporting that you're holding up as justification?
