Trade Blazers trade Simons for Holiday

Holiday is a better overall player and fits the defensive culture. Once Grant/Ayton are moved, Holiday’s salary will be a nonstarter if we keep him. And if we do we trade him in a year or so to free up the salary for a Deni extension.
Not spin, just actual opinions. :)

Holiday doesn't need the ball in his hands like Ant so that frees up more ball time for Scoot and Shae.

win win in my book.

If only actual basketball skills were what mattered, but I guess it's all about balance sheets.

1st, he doesn't want to be here. 2nd, he doesn't fit the timeline, At. All. 3rd, dude could LEGIT be in decline. As a 35 y/o guard still owed 100 Mil that could albatross us for the next couple of years.

It's much more than about balance sheets... But you know that.

Cronin says he can't speak on this trade yet because it isn't finalized.

PDX needs to rework this trade and get Sam Hauser in it. I’m getting real worried about the lack of shooting.

How about Jrue and Timelord for Kuminga and Jackson-Davis?

Steph
Jrue
Jimmy
Dray
Looney

with Podziemski, GP2, Buddy, Moody, Timelord

is a damn good team

I'd do that in a heartbeat. I think GSW doesn't though. I think they value Kuminga higher than to trade him for Jrue.

With Draymond and Butler I don't think they do. They benched Kuminga completely for the end of the season and most of the playoffs.

Kerr took a lot of heat for that. Benching him and then trying to get him going in the Houston series was a mistake. I think Jrue's salary prevents that trade tbh. Kuminga is still relatively cheap.

3 guards getting plenty of minutes -- Jrue, Scoot, Sharpe
2 good, starting forwards -- Deni, Toumani
2 young centers -- Clingan, Yang

back-up forwards could be improved
1 of Ayton or TimeLord needs trading, now, then the other is let go in 1 year (or traded by the February deadline)
Reath could remain for the short-term for 1-2 years
Grant could ... (1) be an overpaid, good 3rd forward until a good trade is done, or (2) get traded earlier

The Blazers situation does not look as complicated or annoying as it was with Ant.

Now that Ayton is bought out-> Im thinking about this Simons trade...

At the time, it was specifically reported that Celtics/Blazers may adjust it slightly if other transactions need to be included.

Celtics are still trying to get below the tax & need to shed salary.
Would Portland be interested in just taking Hauser for free (into the MLE or TPE)?
They would still be in the tax, but below the 1apron

not really liking his contract...but he is a definite 3 point threat

Lots of talk of Jrue having a down year but my question is did he have a down year or did he dial it back because the team didn’t need as much? Boston had to be one of the deepest teams in the league with plenty of offensive power.

his contract sucks but I believe he’s still an elite defensive player who will bring a ton of championship experience to this young roster. There isn’t a player on this roster that he won’t help.

lastly I understand the frustration with the contract 3 years for a 35 year old but Jrue is a warrior he’ll come in to camp in great shape every year and give 110%. You need that vet who can come in and calm a team down especially in a playoff game, which is our end goal next season.

Father time is generally undefeated.
