Trade Blazers trade Simons for Holiday (2 Viewers)

They obviously have a plan, and I'm excited to see what they put on the floor next year. As is, we have a hell of a defensive team

This seems so far out of left field that it makes me wonder if a deal to sell the Blazers has been agreed to and the new people are trying to make a big splash. Holiday as step 1.
Whatever the motivation is, I just want a roster that makes sense and is moving towards winning more than we lose. So this better be the first step and not the only one.

I bet we already have a deal lined up contingent on who falls to 11.

Sir, you are a true fan. I have argued with you about it in the past but I've come to really appreciate your loyalty to our team. I may not always agree with it but I really respect it.

How is Jrue cooked ( he's not ) .. I think he still has another season maybe 2 of being solid but I do agree the window to get off him again is prolly a little over a year ( next offseason ) and pray he does not do a Grant nosedive. However he is not cooked and I am sorry but people who believe this are only saying it cause they are not a fan of the trade and are using this weak ass reasoning to justify there opinion. Now this might end up being a bad trade but more then likely it's a bad trade cause Cronin could not do anything else to shape the roster to make this move make sense OR flip him for something else.

Then just let Ant expire and say good bye at the end of the season. If this is it, this is worse than giving Ant an extension. Never thought I would type that.

Yeah, it's either really incomplete (which Joe has done to us) or there is another trade coming up quick.

The plan has to be to move Jrue to Houston, Indiana, etc. Somebody that thinks they are one move from competing. You have to admit that adding Jrue and KD would make for an interesting Houston team.
Whenever a team goes up for sale they have a fire sale. Dump the overpaid vets and get younger while accumulating picks. I can't see the FO thinking this team is now complete.

I honestly dont' get the weird obsession fans have with players or irrational fears about getting players.

I guess this years is KAT and Beal.

it's like you guys don't read anything you type.

If they keep Holiday, this is one of the dumbest Portland trades ever. The Blazers are nowhere close to being a championship team, and Holiday will not get them there.
We gave up trying to become a championship caliber team when we started trying to make the playoffs this season.

I tried to make it all the way through this thread but it's just too depressing.

Cronin is an absolute terrible GM. He studied Sam Presti very closely, it seems, and does the exact fucking opposite of how OKC has built a good team.

If we wanted to move Simons, we would have been better off cutting him, eating this year's salary, and then not giving so much money to a 36 year-old who hasn't played in 70 games in a regular season since 2017-18.

I don't know why I'm surprised that Cronin and the Blazers made this kind of shit move, given Cronin's history and management's willingness to extend Cronin in spite of his utter lack of success on the court and in rebuilding the roster.

Other than it being a move for the sake of a move, what do you like about it most?
Looks like our GM, along with the majority of the fans, thought it was time for Ant to move on.

That's good. Where the disagreement is... the return. I'm hoping there are more moves and going to wait before judging.

I agree with the last part.

I don't understand the trade right now.

Big O -- your making my point for me ... Thanks

IF Cronin cannot use Jrue either via shuffling the roster around him to be a better fit OR trade him for another piece to help with the re-load cause this team sure as fuck is not rebuilding so Cronin if he uses that word will show just how clueless I have said he has been. However I digress the point is if this move does not lead to either a playoff run with Jrue or another player via another trade using Jrue then this was pointless so that is the gamble hoping to reload instead of fulling investing into a rebuild .

Yeah, that bastard had nothing to do with the team winning 13+ more games than they were expected to last year!

I would like to have that optimism. This is truly idiotic on its own. What does this tell Scoot? That he has no future and good luck earning a new big pay day.
