Trade Blazers trade Simons for Holiday

Reminder to everyone that our defense was actually decent last season and our offense was putrid. I guess we’re doubling down.

I'm guessing the Blazers want a different offensive scheme from Ant hero ball.

Also very common for youth like we have to improve offensively as they get closer to their prime.

It might not be that hard for us to go from bad to average offense. Maybe that's still slightly below average offense. However the problem is without a star how will we ever take the last step to a contending offense?

Maybe the Blazers just don't care about that right now, and really want to follow the Rockets blueprint. Have great team defense next season - acquire an aging superstar as the final piece in a couple of seasons.

I think this signals that Grant is 100% gone.
Rumors of Ayton being on the block.
His value is being able to take money in from a team trying to get off a contract and getting assets for doing that
You can’t trade Ayton in that scenario now because you have jrue and grants contract on the books.
Unless they secretly plan to extend Ayton but then you have 3 bloated contracts for multiple years
That would be bad

The problem is the grant contract is negative value now because Joe waited too long to trade him and was demanding 2frp. So do you attach assets to dump it now? I’d like to not do that.

What a headline to wake up to! Curious what Celtics fans think about getting Ant, I’m going to hear all about it at work today (I work for the Commonwealth, based in Gloucester on the North Shore)
Scotland?

So does Ant or Payton Pritchard start next year?
I bet Pritchard is PISSED about this trade. I’m quite sure he assumed he was sliding into that starting lineup this season. Complete opposite….I’m quite sure Shae and his camp are ecstatic! (Never typed that last word before)!!!

Proud to say I am NOT on said list. They don’t know ANYTHING more than anybody on here, I PROMISE you.
I'm not a fan of it either. Danny left us for that place and I've never really cared for him or Dave.

However, that doesn't change the fact that it's been around and talked about for a decade plus. Its not like someone googled for a bad review of the trade just to share it to own people. That's the only reason I mentioned it.

It’s interesting how people can look at the same situation and see something completely different . The fact that we are bringing him in makes me think we are 100% moving away from the youth movement and going with the WIN NOW mode. If they send him on his way, that completely changes things of course.

Just hate when people say, they said that, the podcast guys said this, or the MorWrong guy said something. They have no inside info. No more than S2 members.

I don't see how this changes anything with Grant let alone your 100% statement.

Yeah Grant and Jrue both have large salaries until 2028. Otherwise the Blazers cap is very clean and the cap is going to $200 million so while I wish we didn't have those deals it's not killing the franchise or anything.

I do think this would make the Blazers less likely to take on long term salary in an Ayton deal. But there are many short contracts that could still be used. I don't think Ayton can get a FRP - but maybe a swap if its for an injured player or such.

Careful otherwise you might be cornered and challenged to a duel at Mt. Tabor.

Pritchard might still start. It's a MUCH MUCH easier dynamic for Boston to tell Ant he is coming off the bench than it would have been for the Blazers to try and tell Ant that. On the Blazers Ant was the longest tenured player and the leading scorer of the franchise for years. Ant has zero tenure on Boston and is on an expiring contract. Pritchard won a title and 6MOTY.

Shae might not get a starting spot with Jrue here, and may not even get too many more minutes than he would have with Ant. Maybe an aging Jrue plays less MPG than Ant so it could be a minor improvement for Shae. But the big difference is Shae has a MUCH larger opportunity to lead more of the Blazers offense.

I think Simons was probably viewed as a neutral value around the league, not even slightly positive.

so after a good night's sleep I hold by my opinion but I will say this ...

I have no issue with the Blazers deciding to double down on D but now we have to trust Cronin to balance this roster and bring in a little more fire power and I trust Cronin as far as I can throw his ass. I hope he proves me wrong and pulls a rabbit out of his ass and have this deal make sense but like I said it is a gamble.

You know, the Bucks before Jrue never were truly a title contenders...he goes there, and blammo, they win. He leaves, and they've been underwhelming since. In fact, you could say they've been a disappointment.

The Celtics were underwhelming until the goes there, and blammo, they win a title. Now that he's gone? They won't be winning the title anytime sooner either.

The last 2 teams he played for won titles in his first year on their team.

Obviously that means they will win the title this year with the Blazers.

Facts don't lie.
