Bobby Marks made a wacky prediction. Portland trades up to #3 for Banchero.

I would take back every criticism of Cronin if he could pull that off.

What would it take? 7 + 25 Mil pick + Keon and take back a contract they dont want?

Proposals with Ant and our pick need to stop. Those deals do not happen in the NBA. It's more obvious than the other obvious tampering that goes on, and would most certainly be flagged.

Ant is going to be a free agent, he can't be traded.

We have had average and mediocre starters at forward. [I did like some of them.] But which recent Blazers’ starting forward was better than Jerami Grant is?

7 is too much for Grant … which is saying that in the theoretical and based upon the history of other draftees at or about that range, and available evidence of play — NOT IN THE NBA — of likely available draftees … that “our guy” at 7 will hopefully become a Blazers SF or PF only surpassed by LMA. … [OG for 7 and a lesser cost for Grant are better options.]

And if that theoretical is the case, I don’t want to trade down to 9 and 20 or anywhere lower unless there are enough players that Cronin, et.al. feel “equally” about (or would be traded for who is actually wanted). Otherwise, don’t screw around. KISS or be ready for BOHICA and SNAFU. Trade up, pick it, or trade out.

Grant is on the same level as Aminu (when he was here). Not 'better' than Grant.... but certainly not 'worse' than him either.

sign and trade...yes he can be traded but that means him agreeing to it.

Ant cannot be traded before, or at the draft. All my responses were in replies to trading Ant for 2022 draft picks. It cannot happen, and never has in the history of the NBA.

Yes after the draft is completed in July the Blazers could explore a sign and trade with Ant, if all three of the Blazers, Ant, and another team discuss and agree to it. None of that can happen before or at the draft.

I didn't say at the draft nor did I say for draft picks...I just said he can be traded and he can when free agency starts. Ant isn't unrestricted...we control what happens with his contract

Marks is asked 'One Bold Prediction'. He says that someone will trade up to #3 and take Banchero. Someone does ask him to name the team, so he says, he thinks it will be Portland.
wow....that's breaking news!

Where the negotiations can only begin on July 1, which is AFTER the draft has occured.
see my post above...I was responding to a post that he couldn't be traded....not when he couldn't be traded. nothing to do with before or during the draft

I would prefer this to some of the other options but I don't think they'll have enough to get him.

With a statement like that, it is very poor on the others parts to not follow up. That is quite the projection.
you realize this is ESPN, right?

Givony's prediction matched what Fischer was saying yesterday. NY is targeting #4 for Ivey. They also were at his proday, so it's sorta inline.

Correct.

However you said this in a thread of what the Blazers can trade the 7th pick for. You also responded to a post quoting 2022 draft pick trades.

Would love to see this, but I would be shocked.

It better not fucking be to trade up for Banchero; only to trade him for Grant.

IMHO, with this one that would be looking for something really good to become utter crap as a trade.
Grant is a good player. Banchero for Grant doesn’t happen even if Grant’s family were Vulcan and Blazers execs.

I would be thrilled if we could move up to the 3 with the 7 and the Milwaukee pick or Nas, less excited but probably still willing if it was both.

This lineup makes no sense. The Blazers need to go with youth or try to win now. If you acquire Grant then your aiming for a win now veteran. If you draft and start Sochan your building for the future with youth, not trying to win now.

I don't see the point in the Blazers trying to win now as they don't have the assets to be able to do it. But them actually trying to do both at the same time would be even dumber.
You do realize there are rookies can make impacts right away right? Just get the right one.

The lineup “doesn’t make sense” because one forward is a rookie and one is a vet? Yeah, I care more about if the lineup makes basketball sense lol.

Sochan actually might actually be a great starter to have next to Grant if you’re going that route. Sochan will make a defensive impact right away and will at least be a 35% catch and shoot guy off the bat—that’s all you’d need from him. Grant will require more shots to be kept happy most likely, and he won’t have to take the toughest perimeter matchup every night. I’m sure Brandon Ingram likes having Herb Jones around.

I left you with #25, #57, the MIL pick, and Bledsoe to do something with. Look for someone who can fill up that other forward spot then. Offer up a solution chief.

this idea is from a rockets fansite:

Well......there is a way to make it work and REALLY help out the Rockets.

#7, Eric Bledsoe and Josh Hart for #3
#7 for #9/20, and then #9, EBEC and Hart for #3.

Not sure if HOU would do that, but they have said the pick is available, and it's basically understood, the price is Wall's contract. The PAIN of that contract, would be somewhat soothed by the #3 pick, although Banchero does nothing for us on the defensive end. We would then have a MASSIVE ending contract for a trade or for Cap Space in FA'cy....whatever that is worth.
