He rebounds well and protects the rim well too. I think he's more of a starting caliber PF than we've had since LaMarcus. When you look at Chief then Melo then RoCo/Larry... I think Collins is more of a power forward than any of those guys but if you're saying that he's versatile and can get out and defend wings, I agree.Collins is as much a wing as a PF
The more I think about it, the more I think we're all in for a summer of disappointment. It's easy to come up with deals that seem to make sense, but there are 29 other teams that are all angling to get the best players possible, and I think we're going to see them all be just as aggressive as Portland, if not moreso. I wouldn't be surprised to see Detroit and Atlanta just trade Grant straight across for Collins, or NY deal directly with Houston, or Toronto deal OG+?? to Phoenix for Ayton, etc. 'Cause all these other teams have better assets to offer than we do--which is why we want them...
Raining on my own parade, I guess, but when all the star/semi-star players find homes, I just see us being left without a chair when the music stops.
Yep, agreed. Take Ant, Keon, Hart, Nas, Watford, Nurk, 7, and whatever assets we can get in exchange for Dame, and start over.I'm fine with not having any major moves if we just end up drafting BPA and not taking on any horrible contracts or getting fleeced once again at the table.
To me, if we completely whiff, we just trade Dame and finally start the rebuild.
I am not going to be disappointed unless we go back to lazy offense and inconsistent defense or consistently bad defense. That's my worry. The more I think about it, the more I think we're all in for a summer of disappointment. I think if we don't make major strides on paper this offseason and then don't win at a better rate than we were with the Dame/CJ teams before the trade deadline, then you won't have to start being in favor of trading Dame because I think Dame and the team will do it for you.The more i think about it some fans need to have some faith -- at least get through this summer and prolly All star break and see where things stand instead of going into glass is ALL empty mode
Now do not get me wrong I think if the Blazers do not make serious strides in the coming season I will be for trading Dame as hard as it is for me to say that as he is the heart of this team since he has been a Blazer and one could argue talent wise is the top Blazer of all time.
We didn't lose 4 fucking starters! Just stop. This has been my thoughts for 4 months and why I hated the Clippers trade so much.
It wasn't just losing the 4 starters whom yes all had flaws. It was the Blazers having less assets to improve the roster short term or long term.
You could argue that we lost 4 starter quality players though. We didn't lose 4 fucking starters! Just stop.
I've been around here long enough to know you could say anything, and someone is going to argue it.You could argue that we lost 4 starter quality players though.
Piston fans are as delusional as Laker fans
Wasn’t he starting for the raptors before we traded for him and he was putting up very good numbers at the two. I don’t think it’s fair that we traded for him and put him at the three and then wondered why he wasn’t successful. And he STILL put up decent numbers at the three.I've been around here long enough to know you could say anything, and someone is going to argue it.
Powell was never a full time starter until he came here. And he started out of position. Better served for a bench role.
Nance has started generally due to I juries as well. Not a normal starter.
So I'd say 2 starters
Don't love it. Would haggle to keep keon, though that's probably stupid.
At the same time, we can likely get someone we like just as much at 11, and gain another future pick, which would be nice.
We also lost the attitude that it's ok to play shitty defense. You could argue that we lost 4 starter quality players though.

There was a culture change as soon as the new guys arrived.
Only way I trade for Grant is if we have added another pick by trading #7 for a great 2 way Power Forward.1. Why is anyone bringing up #7 for Grant? Is there an actual reason? Woj said something?
2. If other teams make deals they prefer that don’t include the Blazers, then I guess Cronin uses the 7the pick. I’m just fine with that. There are legit forwards to take. They may not be optimally on Dame’s timeline, but they can help the team. Then use #36. Or move up a bit to ensure getting PROCIDA!
3. I love the trade talk and creative number crunching. If a significant trade happens for the Blazers, I’m sure there will be re-calculations of previous trades and future prognostication and … fun for all. But no Grant for #7.
It starting to look like we can get two of Collins, OG, randle, and Grant this summer. I still think OG with one of the other guys would push us into contention. But if we don’t get OG, it another season of mediocrityThe arguments some have made for getting Collins from Atlanta seem in the ballpark. The Knicks and the 11, too. Out of the draftees I like for the Blazers, getting one of them extends for sure to 10 … which means a guy like Mathurin, Davis or Griffin is a top 10 pick (SG, SG, SF w/ knees). Lucky 7 or 11 for the Blazers!

Then again, while I'm sitting here thinking "Were it not for Sell-Low Joe's deadline debacle, CJ for Randle would have already happened by now", I'm also sitting here thinking, "If NY demanded Hart for Randle, I don't know that I'd be on board with that".Why do you believe it's starting to look like this?
Are you saying so because a bunch of Blazers fans are proposing such?
The actual value Cronin gets could be very different. From the value he got at the deadline I'm not optimistic he's adding multiple high level valuable starters here.
