Are these going to be used only for selected games or are these the uniforms that will be worn splittingly for 82 games?

So Portland is going to have rip city uniforms? Didn't Richard Hamilton already do this?????? With a much better font?

I like both uni's!

My guess is that these will be used for only a couple of games.

I actually don't mind that they say rip city on them, I just wish they woul dhave made those more old school like the Warriors did with their "The City" uniforms.

Agreed, it's not the "rip city" part that bothers me as much as how fucking busy they are. They're all over the place.

Too many stripes and the little pinwheel logo, and then the names and numbers don't match the front of the jersey then the stuff all over the sides.

I don't get it.

Would be a huge improvement if the name and numbers were just 1 layer solid twill (Like the "Rip City" on the front) and the same bleeding font as "Rip City" wouldn't hurt either.

If they used the rip city font for the names and numbers I think they'd look MUCH MUCH better. they're just kind of all over the shop IMO

I do too. I don't watch the game for the Uni's anyways. But, I haven't ever been a big fan of the blazers uniforms.

Any of them. I take that back. The one I did like a lot of ther people didn't That was the ones they unveiled in 92.

I think the ripcity one would look fine if it said portland like the lenny jersey already posted. That was the best jersey in franchise history and they keep giving us the vertical one...

I dont get it are these jersey's just for random retro nights?

The only place "Rip City" should be written is on the back of the shorts, one word on each cheek... (Would add some nice double meaning, too.) Increase the female viewership!

The red ones look good, but the regular stripes down the side would be an improvement over the b&w, IMO.

Busy? White with 7 letters on the front and a number and the back has a name with number, yeah there are stripes on the side but busy is the last thing the are! I'm with you Pop, they kick ass!

Hideous.

Wow. I actually really really like that.

I really hate the look of the replica jerseys they sell where the shoulders part is so damn wide compared to what the jersey actually looks like. That looks dumb.

Geez guys, I haven't read anything anywhere that says these will be used for regular season games. I suspect the Rip City jerseys will be used for the preseason game Schonley is calling at the MC- as it seems to fit with the occasion. But, I doubt if they will ever be used for a real, regular season game.

The red retro look ones might get used a couple times. The NBA seems to love doing this (retro night) once or twice a year to help boost merchandise sales.

Yeah, my boy JT over with the team just returned my email saying they plan on wearing the ripcity ones this year. I kinda like em.

I like the red retro jerseys, but the white Rip City ones are going to take some getting used to.

I also agree with the sentiment that the wide shoulders is a terrible idea.

the wide shoulders are only for the replicas..all replicas for some reason have the wide shoulder

My take on 1974's
It does get points for creativity and originality with the vertical script down the chest, which is unheard of for uniforms. Also, bonus points for the upright pinwheel logo on the shorts. The only flaw I can dock them for are the hideous white and black strips down the side of the top and shorts. Overall Grade: 8.5/10.

Rip City
First, there shouldn't be that much silver involved, if any. Rip City was a saying by the Schonz long before any thought of silver being an accent color on the color scheme for the Blazers, especially when Rip City is written in the original font the team adopted back in 1970. I love that Rip City is in orginal font, but then make the pinwheel upright to match the era. The side paneling is very plain as well, not bad for NBA standards, but when the Blazers have the best jerseys in the NBA, my expectations for new alternates are high. Overall Grade. 6/10.

actually, it's 75, not 74. It's just that NBA.com wrote it kind of strange. It says the Blazers took Walton in 74 (and that's the subject heading here). But then it says "the following year" they changed it.

The vertical "Blazers" uniform was introduced first in 75-76.

Not that it's a huge issue

Too many competing objects IMO.

For instance, the Cav's throwbacks (maroon) are super busy but it all flows together.

Here we've got 2 different fonts that come nowhere near matching (in Era or treatment), heavy 2 tone stripes on the arms and neck, the NEWER pin wheel (Even though it's the old script rip city), flat 1 layered twill "rip city" but 3 layered twill names and numbers with silver and then stuff all over the side panels.

"Rip City" Is clean, horizontal and straight, then you've got the pinwheel, name & numbers and side panels all running with an angle.

There's stuff going all different directions.

I almost like it, but there's all these little things that add up to make it just look off IMO.

I hope the red uni's are a permanent road (alt) uni.

The Cavs introduced their retro uni's and eventually stuck with them on a permanent (alternative) road jersey.

It's been confirmed these will only be worn a couple times...right?
