Hey, cool thread title.

Its bust a scoot. Not bust a nut on one another…

dick size contests are lame. Buy a bigger truck.

What did Telfair average when he was given free rein in his rookie season?
I can play that game too. What did Steve Nash average his first 4 seasons in the NBA? Even Nash's 3rd season in the NBA, as a starter playing 32 mins a game he averaged 7.9ppg, 5.5 assists and 2.9rebs while shooting 36.3% from the field. Nash later went on to be someone that accomplished above 50% FG, 40% 3pt and 90% Free throw percentage in a season.

What about Jamal Murray's first season? 9.9PPG, 2.1assists and 2.6 rebs, 40% FG.

Or Darius Garland? 12.3PPG, 3.9assits and 1.9rebs, 40% FG.

Now, I'm also not saying Scoot will reach superstar stardom, but jury is still out on the kid man. Give him time, he is young and no college experience. He can still turn out to not be what we all hope he would be when we drafted him, but we won't know that for some years down the line. To judge him now is simply silly imo.

Scoot stats for 6 games in April so far : 17.7 PPG, 10.2 assists, 3.2 rebs, 41.2 FG%, 34.1% 3p FG...he is also averaging a nasty 6 turnovers a game in that span. But that will come with experience, in a long season right now that's about to end he is getting all the run he needs.

Jury still out on Scoot, but progress folks, progress that's all we can hope for. Kid seems like he is a gym rat and has his head on his shoulders. Give it time.

Game Score was created by John Hollinger to give a rough measure of a player's productivity for a single game. The formula is PTS + 0.4 * FG - 0.7 * FGA - 0.4*(FTA - FT) + 0.7 * ORB + 0.3 * DRB + STL + 0.7 * AST + 0.7 * BLK - 0.4 * PF - TOV. (40 is an outstanding performance, 10 is an average performance.)

Statistically Scoot's best game of the year last night vs Houston. It also marks his longest streak without a 'bad' game - 9 games in a row.

Wow. Look at all those former Blazers...

Maybe I missed some, but I only found 2 former Blazers on that list (I don't count Cam Reddish since he played a grand total of 20 games). Eubanks and Patty C.

Did I miss others?

No. But including Scoot that just seems like a lot. I did include Cam Reddish, though. He's certainly a former Blazer.

Yeah, he's a former Blazer, but he was a try-out Blazer. I don't consider players who came in for not even a quarter of a seasons worth of games, with much regard. It's not like they molded him or were responsible for taking him with a lottery pick.

They traded for him. They paid him. I'm not sure what the difference is. They tried him and moved on. He's a former Blazer.

don't forget former Blazers Festus Ezeli and Pau Gasol

you're talking about form? seems pretty subjective but ok

I was gauging by results

he's certainly been better over the last 9-10 games; fallen off a little over the last 5 but still quite a bit better than his season marks. He was a bricklayer when he first came back from his last injury. Hie three point shot has been significantly better for sure

but here's the thing I notice when looking at his progression thru the last 17-18 game logs: He was a bricklayer when he was playing with Simons. About the same time that Simons went to the infirmary, Scoot started to shoot better. Those two just don't play well together.

still, there's enough variance and inconsistency in his shooting I'm not sure breaking it down and cherry-picking the best sample of his shooting numbers is predictive. What is more concerning, to me at least, is that he has consistently been a turnover machine. In his last 10 games, when he shot so well, he had 81 assists and 53 turnovers. A 1.53 assist/turnover ratio when his season mark was 1.58. No progression in that critical phase of his game.

his conversion rate at the rim is still poor, but I think everybody has concluded he dramatically needs to improve his left handle. He is a fiddler crab at this point in his career
Correlation doesn't equal causation. He's been working on his jumper all season and I agree with KJ, his form definitely looks better and more fluid.

Shouldn't Anthony Black or Jarace Walker have won that award?
"Disappointing" is relative to pre-draft hype. Scoot could be better than 90% of the draft and still be a disappointment because this was billed as a two-player draft and he was seen at one point as a genuine threat to Wemby to be drafted first.

I never bought that 2 Player BS

The unfortunate truth is even if he became an all star, fans will shit on him because they'll always compare him.to Dame. It is sad.
IDK? Totally different players? I love Dame and what he brought here but I don't really see a way to compare them at this point?
