Heard a guy on the radio who's an expert on Russia, and the people over there are kind of laughing at the idea that Putin is some mastermind. He's actually a lot like Trump. He was worried what would happen if they ever got in a room together - they're both such conceited assholes that this guy thought that the bromance would be over pretty damn quick and that Trump would be pretty likely to stir up shit with Russia. I think that's underestimating how much the Russkies have Trump over a barrel.

Oddly, I don't think that highly of Putin.

That makes his repeated punking of Obama amusing.

I think the Trump/Russia conspiracy theories are loony. What's evident to those without blinders on is that Trump simply prefers to deal with Russia instead of making enemies of them. That's actually quite statesman-like - more than Clinton and Obama.

You have to admit, the video was funny as hell.

It wasn't until much later is career (maybe post retirement) that Cronkite was found out to be a left winger. That's when journalism was quality. It wasn't just him.

We don't just have journalists with an agenda, we had journalists clearing their articles with the Clinton campaign and giving her debate questions ahead of time.

MSNBC and (supposedly) Putin wouldn't be the only ones trying to influence the election.

This “kitchen sink” is described in a 2008 New York Timespiece titled “Clinton Campaign Starts 5-Point Attack on Obama”:

As stated in the article regarding the photo of Obama in African attire, Clinton’s spokesperson believed Obama’s campaign “should be ashamed” of their criticism. Essentially, the Clinton campaign justified a blatant attempt at deceiving voters, knowing very well that myths regarding Obama’s religion or birthplace would translate into votes for Hillary Clinton.

The New York Times reported late Monday that an FBI investigation into potential ties between Republican presidential Donald Trump and Russian leadership found no evidence that such a relationship existed.

“Law enforcement officials say that none of the investigations so far have found any conclusive or direct link between Mr. Trump and the Russian government,” reported The Times.

The article confirms previous reports that the FBI was investigating Trump staffers, in particular former campaign manager Paul Manafort‘s previous work for a pro-Putin Ukrainian political party. But sources say that had nothing to do with potential Trump-Russian ties, and more to do with the allegation that Manafort failed to declare income from his foreign lobbying.

The more serious allegation concerned communication between a Trump Organization server and two servers for the Russian bank Alfa. Reporters at The Times had been poring over computer logs showing the Russian servers sent more than 2,700 messages to the Trump server, but the FBI ruled that there was “an innocuous explanation, like a marketing email or spam, for the computer contacts.”

But most of the FBI’s investigation was into the hack of Democratic emails and their slow release by the Russian government. There, they found that Russian motives had little to do with Trump. “Even the hacking into Democratic emails, F.B.I. and intelligence officials now believe, was aimed at disrupting the presidential election rather than electing Mr. Trump,” The Times reports.
