Amick:

Cronin was known to be spending summer league getting a fuller understanding of the market for Lillard, including among teams that might make a play for him despite his well-known Miami wishes. But the pressure will grow in the coming months, when the spotlight surrounding Lillard and Harden brightens yet again and their impatience inevitably grows along the way.

Hold the line

Give Dame what he wants within reason --- I would love to get 100% value but that is not happening and I know it will be tough but try and get Dame to a place he wants AS LONG as you can get about 85% value in return. This front office owes it to Dame to try and get him to a place he wants as long as it does not hurt the Blazers too much in the future.

How about no?

If Miami really wants Dame they can give up max value - Martin Herro 2 prospects 3 1st 3 2nds and 3 swaps. If not ship Dame where the Blazers get the best return. Dame lost that card when he went public with the demand and had his agent spewing the list of only playing for one shitty team or he'll hold out. If Dame had played nice instead of scorched earth maybe the franchise tries to accommodate him. Since he didn't; they shouldn't.

Pressure for whom? The GM who is presiding over a losing team anyway and whose best chance to keep his job is to maximize the value for an asset? Or a 33-year-old player who wants a chance at a ring and sees his time in the League ending? I would argue the latter has more pressure put upon them to get a deal done quickly.

Fuck that. We owe him NOTHING.

If we get multiple offers of similar value, then sure, say hey Dame, we have these offers and would be happy with any. Which team do you want to go to?

Playing hard ball and giving us one team means any nice guy games are not on the table.

What gets lost in all of the current hullabaloo is that Dame has hamstrung both Neil and Cronin for years with his public requests to upgrade the roster. Make the request privately, go out and actively recruit guys to come to Portland and publicly shut the door on leaving.

Our GMs have been negotiating with one hand tied behind their backs. And that is thanks to Dame.

1000% this.

Yeah agreed. Dame getting Jerami Grant was the way to go. These comments for years of maybe asking out did nothing to help. Just ask out or don't.

But Cronins comments also hurt as well - all this talk about trading #3 would make any GM think they might be able to get the pick for less than full price.

Side note: but Joe publicly acknowledging the trade request really fucked us. He allowed Goodwin to legally go around to teams to apply leverage. No GM has ever publicly acknowledged a trade request while it was still going on. It removes the protections in regards to tampering.

So while maybe Goodwin would still do that covertly, now he can publicly go around and say whatever he wants to other teams and the press.

Normally in these trades teams allow communication with the players/agent and new team so there is not tampering. For example when we traded for Grant. Thats routine business as usual.

What Joe commenting on it publicly did was also allow dame to comment without being fined. The agent contacting teams always happens.

There are people in the middle ground that see things differently than the sycophants like Fentress.

That's getting in the ballpark but we're not taking back Duncan Robinson's shitty contract and that means either taking Nurk and sending Lowry or sending Martin, regardless they have to include their two young guys JJJ and Jovic, that should just be a given. The fact is the Heat need to know what they are building around so expect the offers to continue to go up.

For me if we can do this I pull the trigger.

the Lillard trade request going public was brilliant a move for Blazers PR. It brought a Blazers team that kinda stunk last year, up to the level of Miami, who had just made it to the Finals. Everyone talks about Dame, Scoot, the Blazers, heck... even Anfernee gets mentioned a few times in the national spotlight.

Miami lost a play-in game.
They had a fantastic run then got clobbered by a #1 seed.

Not giving him any engagement on social media.

I'm presuming this is another one of those trolls of Blazer Nation, though.

I dunno.

I really liked his first album he did. Truthfully, I thought it was good.

Whatever that 2nd one was, was really really bad lol

No one except a few insiders know the details of the trades that were discussed. So how do you evaluate a GM on trades not made unless you know what the options were. I'm glad that he didn't make a stupid trade, like trading for Gerald Wallace in exchange for a pick that turned into Damian Lillard.
Ok, so what about someone who broke the details of a trade two months before it happened? But people act like that guy doesn't know anything.
