This is how it's going to go. We'll either start hearing rumors of teams putting packages together to get Dame who will be just as good if not better with Dame than Miami and have more to offer than Miami or the other thing that might happen is what happened with Donovan Mitchell, which was all talk about the Knicks and then like a bolt of lightning the Cavs trade happened in seemingly one day.Wouldnt have include GT.
Boucher, Barnes, Young, Porter jr. Dick, Achiuwa gets you there.
As the pieces you keep, Barnes/Precious/Dick combo is better than anything Miami gives us.

Toronto still has the pieces to make a run with Dame.
The question is if you're okay with taking Barnes and GTJ and no picks because I don't think Masai would do Barnes AND picks.
Not gonna miss this cryptic shit.
Gross...
Yep... the 6 players you listed above are exactly who should be in the deal. Send Keon over too just for roster space. I would be excited to see what that roster might be able to grow into over the next couple years.no barnes, no deal. keep your picks. OG has zero appeal for me in a Dame trade once we realize he'll be a FA that walks in a yr.
They just re-signed their center; a swap with ours would not be an option. In a Dame Toronto deal I want to swap centers as well.
I realized after I went to bed that I forgot about Thybulle. Seriously...if that deal actually happened (5% chance, IMO), I'd almost feel sorry for Chauncey who'd have to find minutes for like 14 worthy playersHell, assuming Simons/Sharpe/Barnes/Grant/Nurk start, Scoot/Nas/Porter/Achiuwa/Boucher would probably be the best bench we've had in years.
To balance their roster and pursue another title by pairing a superstar PG with their all-NBA PF and their all-defensive SF?I have always thought very highly of Barnes and would love to see him here. Cheap, young, long, athletic, versatile, excels on D and both on and off the ball on offense... why would Toronto even think of trading him again?

Yeah, they need to do something big, they feel like they’re treading water. And they lost Fred. They can’t just roll out this same group again and again. Take a shot with Dame without giving up a load of picks and they can reboot after the Dame/Siakam window. To balance their roster and pursue another title by pairing a superstar PG with their all-NBA PF and their all-defensive SF?

I mean, we'd still only have one (non-2-way) player over 6'9, but we'd suddenly be loaded with legit forwards.
Its a Trailblazer pipe dream to think there is any chance of that happening. While dreaming is great, I'm more into more reality based discussions. He's the last asset they'd part withTo balance their roster and pursue another title by pairing a superstar PG with their all-NBA PF and their all-defensive SF?
Maybe. But they finished at .500 last season, missed the playoffs, and all their talent is in their forwards. They’re going to be mediocre or worse again this season with their downgrade at PG. Where do they go from here? They have a rare opportunity to add an amazing scorer and leader to balance out their roster and have a chance to contend. Barnes is a huge price to pay, but might be worth it when the East is wide open. Its a Trailblazer pipe dream to think there is any chance of that happening. Another 1RP wouldn't even be necessary. But it seems unlikely that Toronto would send over 6 players in exchange for Dame, which is what would be needed (to match salary) if Toronto is keeping Trent, OG, and Siakam.I think Toronto would be a good trade partner. Let them keep Siakim and OG. Boucher and Precious would solidify our PF positon, and allow Grant to play SF, so we wouldn't have to play small ball. Gradey Dick was the #13 pick, so he's like a lotto pick. He can play SF and would fit in with Shape/Scoot. Have them throw in another 1st round pick as well, and this is a decent haul with no bad contracts.

Only way they could deal for Dame and keep Barnes/OG/Siakam is if they send Trent...but do we really want him?Are you saying let them keep Barnes too? That would be a no-brainer for Toronto. Obviously, getting Barnes would be a no-brainer for us, but even if we didn't, I do think that Gradey Dick, Boucher, and Precious would still be better for Portland than what Miami is offering. Gradey's upside is huge IMO
