Not to be a dick BUT what’s with the “I’ve been saying for months” stuff?

I’m aware I’m being rude and I’m sorry, I just want to understand. The forum is rife with these types of declarations. Is it like “told you so”? Or some kind of need for validation?

In my opinion, the only form of this that is cool at all is when SOMEONE ELSE says something like “Hey, that’s what you’ve been saying for months!” See that’s cool. Let THEM toot your horn.

Because I remember warring with people on here and watching some YouTubers who were adamant that nobody wanted Dame and the shittier Miami offer was all we could get and we should be thankful to get it.

Dame is on a podcast tour again right now. Sry but he's become annoying af bro

Agreed. Now we have to parse his words like they're fucking Zen koans until the next news cycle.

There's nothing to parse. This was a hip hop podcast and they asked him vaguely about if his loyalty has changed. Dame said:

"It’s a way that you have to go about things where you can’t be an idiot. You say I’m gonna stay down, I’m gonna ride till the wheels fall off and all that stuff. I don’t have to prove that to nobody, like I’ve shown it. I mean that in my heart. But that’s like me and you saying no matter what happens we ain’t telling on each other. Ya know, I’m saying we never tell on each other. And then the day comes where I’m still playing by those same rules,"

"Like man, you want the same thing? We’re gonna go out together and then that ain’t the code you want to live by no more. So, when that happens, you can’t be how it was… You don’t want the same thing no more and you show me that you don’t want the same thing. We don’t want the same thing."

I don't have a problem with guys talking wrap not having the correct follow up but I just wish someone would have been there to say, that's cool man, you have a point but what the fuck is up with only giving Portland one team, that just seams counterproductive to everyone. Then that gives Dame a chance to lie but also really open up the gates for all other teams. He could say some shit like, nah as long as the team I'm going to or am on is trying to win a championship right now, I'm cool. The fact is these dudes didn't press Dame on that and maybe Dame knew they wouldn't or told them not to.

I agree that the scorched-earth-Miami-or-bust stance Dame's agent took at the beginning of this seemed to kabosh any real leverage Portland might have had. If Dame truly wants out of Portland that was not a good strategy

there could be an explanation for it though. That being that Dame, from the start of this, only had interest in playing for two teams, not one: Miami & Portland. If he couldn't get routed to South Beach he wanted to remain a Blazer. He didn't want Portland to entertain offers from other teams. His preference, obviously, was Miami. But he'd have been OK with staying.

but I think his agent over-played his hand in too public a fashion. And Dame's camp underestimated the damage the strategy would do to his brand and reputation in Portland; and miscalculated where people would go with interpreting his vague and cryptic social media posts....which he's always made by the way. Right from the beginning Dame & his agent should have went radio-silent. Code name: shut the fuck up

but they didn't and they underestimated how much mud would accumulate on the one foot left behind the door in Portland while the other foot was poised over Miami

Per hoopsjock podcast last night and some BlazerEdge comments it sound like Philly is an East team making an offer.

They have Harden and Maxey and a pick to trade. Maybe Harden can get another pick and Maxey a couple more, certainly more than Herro. So could be an offer that is similar to the max Miami can offer.

I wouldn't be surprised if Morey is discussing this more to pressure Miami to give up every asset possible including Martin. Or maybe he actually wants to swoop in and pair Dame with Embiid, hard to know.

Things are….heating…up, as they say

Still a decent chance he stays and we add a player

Wow... these two sentences lead me to such wildly different conclusions.

Is Cronin trying to take his thread the needle to the next level?

Yes. Despite what some think, others think Dame, Grant and missing piece can contend.
We still have the MLE available.... Kelly Oubre hasn't officially signed?

Maybe he is the final piece to Dame saying all is forgiven and returns LMAO

A chance he STAYS, and we add someone? To what? Compete? LOL
games last year, Blazers were competitive for a little while. Now sometimes they lost by 20+ in a clear the bench blowout... but remember that one part in the 3rd they were only down by 8 ??
Competitive, competing, competitor,
add some n's and a D = contender

That was with Hart who we lost for nothing.

Blazers would need to add an All-NBA player to have even a long shot chance at contending. Probably have to trade away Scoot or Sharpe - maybe both.

We didn't lose Hart for nothing by any stretch...we got assets before he walked for "nothing" and he was going to walk. He comes off the bench for the Knicks and for team USA . His wife didn't want to be in Portland away from her family and he didn't either. I like the guy but understand why he's gone. Thybulle is a way better fit as a 3 and D guy and Knox shoots better and has more length.

So talks with the Heat have resumed as reported.

At the same time we are considering keeping Dame and maybe adding Ayton? My guess is Nurkic and Ant and whatever filler if needed. Portland does it to get a younger Center not allergic to defense and to free up more guard minutes. Phoenix does it as a 2 for 1 because they potentially get a 6th man or starting PG in Ant as well as a decent if healthy Center in Nurkic.

Untrue. The deal is not yet agreed to. I will say some names mentioned in the deal aren’t super happy about Portland. I know that to be fact. Lowry was probably there because Prime is turning Boulder into an event
How would you know any of this?

The problem with Ant and Nurk for Ayton and filler is figuring out the filler. If the Suns are trying to add depth but they have to send out four guys that were going to be in their rotation just to get a legit sixth man and a downgrade at C, I don't really think that makes sense.

Because the Suns are over the second apron they can't take on $1 of additional salary in a trade.

I'd guess with Ant, Nas, Nurk and maybe Keon and Badji you could throw in a pile of 2nd round picks..we got 5 of them from Golden State in the Payton trade...

Wrong direction, sun's would need to throw in more salary

This is a fundamental misunderstanding. They can't accept the salaries of Ant and Nurk for Ayton. Ayton makes 32.4M while Ant and Nurk make a combined 40.9M, 8.5M has to be sent back to us from Phoenix but they don't have that much in tradeable salaries because everyone outside of their big three and Ayton signed in the off season so they can't be traded and only three guys making a total of 4.9M are eligible to be traded. So you want to send them more salary?

yeah I was just throwing out a list of names I don't mind trading...however the money works, I put zero thought into but the Suns need a pt guard and a center...and no...I don't want to send any assets unnecessarily to the Suns.

I consider that return to be nothing in the terms of elevating last years roster to be an immediate win now contender with Dame.
