Dame asks for trade (And there it is) (1 Viewer)

Dame is just coming off as very entitled.

He got the bag. He was saying only a few months ago that he just wants a chance to compete. Why does he suddenly think it's okay to demand a trade to one of two teams that were in the Finals?
lol, you're gonna take a report from a Heat reporter and say its true and just use it to throw shade on Dame, like you like to do.

True or not, any chance you get to make a negative comment on Dame you do lol. Its normal now at this point

Damian Lillard on if he had an issue with Blaers drafting Scoot Henderson:

No. Me and Scoot Henderson, we’ve had a few conversations with him coming into the league. That wasn’t a deal breaker for me at all. I respect his game.
I think in that position he was the best player available, so that’s what you’ve gotta do if you’ve got the pick. I wasn’t offended at all because, at the end of the day, you’ve gotta come in and play. I’ve been doing this for a long time, so to me, that wasn’t a knock on me or anything.

Interesting comments from that tweet. Barnes seems to be extremely polarizing. Some fans seem to think Toronto turned down offers for Durant and Brown for Barnes. Therefore no way they would trade him for Dame.

Zach Lowe doesn't throw that comment out unless he has a legit source in Toronto that says they aren't interested in Barnes for Dame. He doesn't need to put out statements for clicks or push one teams agenda like the Heat shills.

Aligns with MM comments here as well.

I think, last summer, it is possible that they did turn down all Barnes-for-KD trade proposals. However, that was before his frankly disappointing sophomore season in which he was significantly worse in most of his offensive and defensive advanced metrics (outside of assist rates). He was also rumored to be a bit of problem-spot in the eyes of the veterans on the team, notably Siakam and Van Vleet (of course, now in Houston). Has sufficient bloom come off the rose so that they would trade him now in a Lillard swap? I highly doubt it, but I think the conversation is at least resonable to have at this juncture. I'm not sure Barnes is the sure-fire future star that most saw last summer.

When i started my new job about 9 months ago, I was asked to pick a secondary question for secure login.

I picked "who is my favorite athlete" as it was an easy answer to remember.

A month ago, my office started pushing a two factor authorization every single time I login to my computer. So 5 times a day I have to enter "lillard" to do any work.

For fucks sake. I don't want to go to IT with this issue. But it sucks. ☹️

New guess. This gets done before camp

Dame out

Lowry, Jovic, Hayward, 2 picks, 2 swaps in

Yuck - pathetic. If thats the case fire Joe. Would be better to bring Dame to camp and see what there is in December or February. A return like that will always be available.

No Jacquez/Martin? Why only two picks if Herro is elsewhere - Miami can do the 2 picks 2 swaps on their own.

That's fucking depressing.

Also, that's over 60 million dollars incoming

The salary coming in is fine - Hayward/Lowry are both expiring. This years salary doesn't really matter anymore and will have to be reasonably close in trade.

You don't have to worry about luxury tax this year - Jody has always made sure to avoid paying any since she took over the team.

Funny to me that all this would make somebody hate a player they've loved for so long. That dude put in work for not only this team, but this city. Kinda sad how quickly people turn on somebody who didn't do anything to them personally.

Yeah, that's not ideal. That's at least one pick short. I think you wait and deal with the discomfort if that's the deal.

That said, it still feels like something is missing here.

if it's just Dame going out, the most salary the Blazers can take back is 57M. This trade brings back 63.5M. Portland is 3.3M below the tax line right now

Why would Cronin have waited for that "package?"

If that actually is the return for Dame your sources must be good because it makes no sense to anyone.

Not to mention that there would have to be a lot more pieces involved for it to work for each team in the deal. I think something like this could work, but there are definitely some non-neglible pieces missing here.

Hayward as in Gordon Hayward? Or Haywood as in Haywood Highsmith? If the latter, it won't be before camp.

I think a big part of the reason people loved Dame so much was his loyalty. He basically told the Blazers, and the fans, to some extent, to go fuck themselves. I get the anger, or hurt feelings

I believe they have more than that - maybe you have some cap holds or nonguaranteed amounts in there. In early July they were able to spend most of the full MLE and stay under the tax, and they spent very little since then.

Just a guess, but I think he’s hoping the package improves. It has, by the way, Now it’s up to him to accept it or deal with the circus
