About the best thing I can think of on a day like this is that I can’t think of many situations where a team was in a better position to deal with losing an All-NBA PG than the Blazers are. Ant has 4 years of experience as Dame’s backup and Scoot looks to be a stud. I won’t say that it doesn’t hurt losing Dame, but now that the bandaid has been ripped off, I’m looking forward to seeing how the team gets rebuilt from here. I just hope Joe realizes that he doesn’t have to grab his ankles on every trade.

I've not wanted to say it, but SAS has been my preferred spot since it was reported that Dame said something to the effect of "if it's not #1, trade it." Once SAS got #1 (they didn't have enough space to just take him straight off our books, but we could've gotten back some young guys and picks) it became an interesting matchup. Something like Zach, Sochan and Dougie Fresh McDermott and picks for Dame worked in the Machine.

Would love to get Sochan if we dared to send him to San Antonio.

Would also take Claxton in Brooklyn.

This is the thing: for a team that is in rebuild mode, the rebuild has been going for like three years, whether accidentally or on purpose. Moving Dame isn't the first move in the rebuild, it's close to the last.

Can you post what is says since twitter doesn't let people without accounts view tweets anymore?

It just says they are among the leading candidates....

Still trying to wrap my head around it. I will inevitably get excited again down the road. Just, hard to adjure myself into a hopeful state in the moment.

Nets all the way. Fuck Miami. Get those young Net players and a plethora of picks.

what in the fuck are we going to do with a 32 mil/yr Grant?

It’s going to be meh, but in reality I don’t know for sure where he is going.

I have been convinced for months that if Dame is traded, the best Blazer fans could hope for would be a meh return. That has been the historical pattern after a franchise player asks to be traded. And most dranchise player who ask to be traded do so well before they are 33 years old. And most are taller than 6'2

all those posters dreaming about giant "hauls" from a Dame trade will probably be the posters screaming loudest when the trade is announced

He did no such thing. This dude put his time in like nobody else for not only the franchise, but the damn city. No hate should be tossed his way.

There is no hate. There is just no belief he is loyal to the soil. That's all. As I said, good luck to him everywhere except when plays the Blazers.

It's a really simple math equation. You can't be loyal and ask out. You can't be somewhat pregnant as well. It's a binary value. You are either 1 or 0.

i don't know how to cope with this.
I gotta laugh, it's basketball and the recent version has been lousy to watch IMO. This was, is, and was likely to be a treadmill team with Dame. I have had enough of that crap. looking forward to watching the new young guys develop and play a more interesting style of ball, and some more defense as well. To each their own

we should be happy getting out of that albatross contract and gettin a "decent" return, the longer we waited the worse it was going to be. Now Scoot and Shae team will not be hamstrung by that deal.

There was a lot of Zion smoke a week ago. So, a three-way where we get back Zion? Any trade machine maestros want to take a crack at it?

Am I the only one who is fine keeping Grant even with Dame gone? I always hated Grant playing against us and honestly with a PG like Scoot I think he will benefit more to showcase his talents. While I enjoyed and loved the Dame time era I am more excited to see what the future holds.

This is obvious to say, but just to put it out there: you want salary that's closer to expiring, players who play positions you need regardless of skill, and picks, as many as they'll give you, for the years when Dame is 37-39.

I only want players and picks that match the Triple S time-line. The Miami picks ain't it, and no old expensive vets.

Gonna have to take back expensive assets, you just want them to be expiring soon or old vets so they can shore up the bench behind our young guys and (hopefully) mentor them a little.

I think there's enough of a track record out there with trades like KD (to PHX) and Harden (to the Nets) that you can make the case that sets the market for Lillard

Please no Zion; I don't like his chances to rehabilitate into the player everyone wants him to be.
