"Lillard wants to go to the Miami Heat to compete for a title with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler. Will Dame end up where he wants? Miami’s best offer could look something like this:

Heat Receive:

Damian Lillard
Jusuf Nurkic

Blazers Receive:

Tyler Herro
Kyle Lowry
Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Nikola Jovic
2028 first-round pick
2029 pick swap
2030 first-round pick

This would go down as one of the worst trades in NBA history. There’s no big lump of draft picks like the Nets received for Kevin Durant or the Jazz did for Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert, and no key young players like the Pelicans got for Anthony Davis or the Thunder got for Paul George.

If Portland’s game plan is to appease Lillard rather than build a solid foundation for his successor, Scoot Henderson, then by all means, accept Miami’s best offer. But if the Blazers take the deal, then Pat Riley should be wearing a ski mask and driving a getaway car, because it would be grand larceny on a scale that even Danny Ocean would admire."

We get minimum 5 FRP period no matter what players come back.

has anybody bothered to check Amick's credibility? Last I remember he was considered to be kind of a hack

I think Amico is definitely a hack, but I think Amick is generally okay in that sense, though I often disagree with his takes. Kind of a tier 2 reporter and news breaker behind woj, shams, windy, etc.

I also like this BKN direct haul I will just do thumbnails:

Brooklyn gets Dame AND Simons (oh I love this part)

We get Ben Simmons - he can play point forward as a facilitator, or as the primary ball handler off the bench, or he's just a MASSIVE expiring that might net a 1st in 2025, it's up to him if he wants to try and actually be a player in this league again.

Spencer Dinwiddie (expiring and might net us a first at the deadline)
Royce O'Neale (expiring)

Noah Clowney 6'10" PF Noah Clowney a one time lottery pick according to many scouts who slipped out of the lottery.

Dariq Whitehead a 6'7" Rookie SF

PHX 2025,27, and 29 1sts
Philadelphia's 2027 1st
Dallas 2029 1st
Nets 2029 1st

Yuck. This idea is nearly ban worthy IMO. ;)

Reading Quick's article.

It makes sense that Dame's urgency and his mindset changed. Dude lost 8 people who were close with him within 18 months. That will change anyone.

We also need to think about a S&T with Jerami Grant and hope to get a 1st back or a young prospect. Ugh.

I just don't think that will happen. He wanted a 5th year, and he can't get a 5 year if he does a sign and trade.

You must be joking. Two young solid prospects, a giant expiring and SIX first round picks, Dinwiddie as possible additional trade fodder who might net us another first for a total of SEVEN potential firsts, maybe even we can flip Simmons for an EIGHTH freaking first round pick, and we get rid of Simons contract to boot? What's not to love?

I think they need to keep some quality vets around to see where they stand before blowing things up. They could be competitive in a hurry. Right now the only thing they lost is Dame and he's replaced by the 3rd pick in the draft who a lot of people are high on

Ugh what a gut shot. I guess shop him at the deadline he might be worth more then actually.

Yup. Hopefully he has trade value. I think he does. Even if we only get a pick back. We can't let an asset walk out the door for nothing while we're trying to rebuild.

That's an interesting thought. Winning culture might be more important than our own pick given we will get a huge haul of other team's picks that will be awesome right when we need cheap contracts next to Scoot and Sharpe.

I’m not a bit surprised. Dame was more than patient enough with this front office for many years. The incompetence has put this org and he in this position. Olshey was incompetent and full of hot air. Cronin? It’s hard to say. I think his hands could be tied by ownership and on that note they couldn’t sell this team fast enough. I wish Phil would put together a super generous offer to move Jody. Perhaps he should do it before they get a chance to move Dame.

At the end of the day, if he can’t be here, Id love to see him in Milwaukee with Gianis. I don’t know if they have anything I want other than Gianis.
