At least this time when a star is leaving, the roster isn't lacking any stat potential

Nice… at least we got our future PG in Scoot. Just need more draft picks

He’s unproven, it’s a legitimate concern and I understand people who are skeptical. I’m kind of that way I guess.

We’ve seen hyped players be washes and while I definitely don’t think Scoot will be a wash, he’s got some pretty big shoes to fill, and he will never be Dame. Could work better for us to have a differently offensive minded PG.

Sharpe was unproven.

Scoot has been playing against grown men for two years.

1. Don't trade Simons.
2. Maximize your trade value for Dame. Involve multiple teams.
3. Shed bad contracts.
4. Trade for frontcourt size and length.
5. Draft picks for eons.
6. If any of his preferred destinations balks at our price, put the onus on Dame and his agent to get a deal done. Not our problem.
7. At this point, let him sit until we get what we want.
8. The return benchmark should be higher than the KD trade to the Suns.

Joe seems like a guy who will get the deal done just to get it done. And that scares me.

We didn't pick a path.

Damian Lillard forced us to choose a path.

Should've picked a path TWO years ago when it was clear as fucking day Cronin couldn't do what Dame wanted.

But, love the optimism... let the rebuild begin.

Disagree. I think we chose to rebuild and we were quietly nudging Dame towards this decision by not at all building around him.

What if the Blazers said they wanted to trade Dame but for Dame to be able to handle it in a way best for him?

What if the FO thinks Scoot and Shaedon are both promising enough that they could realistically move on from Dame?

It hurts to say that I have lost a great deal of respect for Lillard, especially after all his platitudes the past several years. This move is just another lather, rinse and repeat. As soon as Sharpe and Henderson reach their ceilings, they'll be gone for greener pastures too. Welcome to Podunk Portland.........

Just so everyone knows, I merged the different threads started. No offense to anyone but having one thread for initial reactions, etc. makes the most sense.

Yeah several more years of the lottery. How can’t we be excited about a few more years of what we just experienced

I refreshed and it said “not found” and I thought I was banned for my legitness or something.

But apparently we’ve all been transported to another dimension.

1. Grant owes Dame a few million for waiting a day
2. Bet Harden's pissed

What a horrible day.

And I'm already preparing myself to get absolutely fleeced in this trade. Will be some nice salt for the wound.

I just don't even want to think about it. I accepted dame would leave a bit ago but the realization of the assets coming back will either be acceptance or downright depression and there's no in between.

I don't think that's fair. I think the team pushed him into this decision. I think it was deliberate too.
Loyal to the soil, to me, means willing to go through the process good or bad, he was, for a long time, but he bailed out.

He has every right to do so, but the loyalty claim now seems like a marketing ploy rather than true.

Will always like him, but say what you want, not a great look

My heart is broken. This is the worst i've felt since my wife of 26 years, had an affair , and then said "she didn't love me anymore". Almost 10 years later to the date. 2 more torpedoes to the bow.

I mostly post stupid idiotic stuff for fun, but this post is really sad. This is just a game and an outlet from real life. I'm so sorry that happened to you. I hope you've gotten to the other side and found love from more kind and loyal sources. I'm bummed too, but I hope Scoot makes us forget about all this bullshit and drama the past two years. Also, Dame could've gotten hurt and been an albatross here. Time to rip the bandaid off, get excited about youth, and hope the team sells to uncle Phil.

This is a great day! It was time! This dude is going to be 35 in just 2 years! I’m excited for the future.

Plus I think Jody might sell now..

Agreed. Joe at least set us up for a future.
I think it's maybe too generous to give Joe credit for our future (2 lottery picks turned potential stars).
At this moment, I'm not confident he'll be getting us much in the Dame trade.
He hasn't proven himself particularly capable in anything except getting Grant.

So we'll see what happens here, but we better hope we don't find ourselves in the "just need one more all star" realm once again in 4-5 years or were doomed.
