Finally! We can move on. Dame thx for the memories and I wish you well. My only issue is did we know Dame would do this before the shitty Grant signing? or do we want a vet like Grant onboard? And does Grant really want to be here for 4 or 5 yrs as we rebuild?

We agreed in principle right? We can still pull out.

Who do we like in the next three years' lotteries?

after trading away Dame, going for lottery gold is the only logical course. Building a roster that would hover around .500 with play-in as the ceiling would be the stupid path

knowing what you know about the Blazers, will Portland choose the logical course, or will they walk the stupid path?

This is the day i can tell you my negativity was right
10+ years of Dame gave us NOTHING really worth, just some emotion in the first round

NOW i can be positive because there's a new promising path

Im sorry your joy came off of 10 years of negativity that you'll never get back. I'm sorry for you on that.

My point still holds true.

My heart is broken. This is the worst i've felt since my wife of 26 years, had an affair , and then said "she didn't love me anymore". Almost 10 years later to the date. 2 more torpedoes to the bow.

There goes the Blazers. Get ready to suck for the next decade.
Nah, not that long. Could be a quicker turn around than we expect. Could make the playoffs next year. The NBA is really deep now and with how many young players we have I feel safe saying that one of them will turn into an All-Star level player. Could be more than one… Losing Dame hurts, but we could look
back on this as the catalyst which set us up for the future.

Could get insane value for Dame. Already having a lot of young promising players. We could actually be scary in 3 years.

Did I miss something CJ said?
Yeah CJ said he didn't see Dame sticking around or at least that was the quote in one of the two interviews and it was confirmed by Dame that him and CJ had talked about it the night before but Dame truly saw himself starting the season in a Blazers uniform.

well, we just through 160 million at 28 year old grant, so I'll go with stupid path

What would the Clippers or Sixers give us? I’m not seeing much on those rosters.

The writing was on the wall all along. The best Neil or Cronin could ever surround him with is Jerami Grant which is pathetic

Time to turn the page. Youth movement all the way. Strip the team of the old era and collect young cheap contracts and assets

We didn't pick a path.

Damian Lillard forced us to choose a path.

Should've picked a path TWO years ago when it was clear as fucking day Cronin couldn't do what Dame wanted.

But, love the optimism... let the rebuild begin.

1. Don't trade Simons.
2. Maximize your trade value for Dame. Involve multiple teams.
3. Shed bad contracts.
4. Trade for frontcourt size and length.
5. Draft picks for eons.
6. If any of his preferred destinations balks at our price, put the onus on Dame and his agent to get a deal done. Not our problem.
7. At this point, let him sit until we get what we want.
8. The return benchmark should be higher than the KD trade to the Suns.

Dame is 33 and with that albatross contract its time to get what value we can and build around a promising core of Shae and Scoot.

Yep. I'm fine with him being traded and we can restart. I'm in shock at the same time. I don't know how to fucking feel.

Thank God I’m not a history major and have a crappy memory.

Did anybody on here thought we could put good to great veterans around Dame if you thought that your in fantasy land. Cronin had know maneuver ability due the blazers back was against the wall in cap. Plus when last time a real good player came here in free agency. His only hope was through the draft that Dame or by trade that you really wouldn't know if you going get the players that's going actually help team win. I said before know team was going to deal with Portland and know quality FA was going to come here for the MLE. Especially when every GM out there knew Dame would request a trade if cronin couldn't do something magical. Cronin hands was tie and if we had the greatest GM his hands would be tied. I wish Dame luck where ever he goes but he knew the writing was on the wall and Cronin also knew the writing was on the wall.

I think people are massively underestimating Scoot.
He’s unproven, it’s a legitimate concern and I understand people who are skeptical. I’m kind of that way I guess.

We’ve seen hyped players be washes and while I definitely don’t think Scoot will be a wash, he’s got some pretty big shoes to fill, and he will never be Dame. Could work better for us to have a differently offensive minded PG.

Loyal to the soil or a merchant of snake oil?

Good luck to him, but it's not a great look.

I don't think that's fair. I think the team pushed him into this decision. I think it was deliberate too.
