Scoot has been playing against grown men which couldn’t get a bench spot for the Pistons.

Maybe Fenerbahçe wouldn’t even sign them, who knows…. Nothing against Fenerbahçe.
And Wemby? Against whom has he been playing? The Thompson Twins? Miller?

You can make that statement about any NBA rookie. The fact is Scoot has played just about the highest level of competition of any incoming rookie could.

Is there any way we could find a way to merge this with the Melo thread eventually? Should this be the most posted in thread? Should we merge the Melo thread with this one?

Gotta think about what is most important right now…

Grant will be traded at the deadline for expirings and a pick. I agree with Nate on this.

The brightside is with Dame we were a fringe playoff (or play-in team) and without him we probably won't be good at all, like another top draft pick good while hoping to see more growth from Sharpe and seeing good things from Scoot

Ant
Sharpe
Little
Grant
Nurkic

the team won't be good but it will win enough games to keep them locked in the back end of the lottery

if Ant, Nurkic, and Grant are not traded, Portland has actually managed to find a worse fence to straddle then all the fences Olshey and Cronin straddled over the last 11 years

Drafting Scoot was a direct shot and then Joe said he would push all of our chips in around Dame again. This isn't Dame this was Joe not having it in him to be honest and forcing Dame's hand. When you are person like Dame with so much loyalty and are facing people who are disloyal to you, I don't think it's reasonable to treat disloyalty with continued loyalty. Dame said well in advance of the draft what needed to happen and the team did the opposite. Dame didn't want it to go this way, the team did.
Do you have an inside line into Blazer management thinking and efforts???? How do YOU know the Cronin didn't make every effort to appease Lillard??? Pretty much every teams in the league had us over a barrel (where Lillard put us with his own words). all they had to do was jerk Cronin around until Lillard had enough and demanded a trade. Quit acting like you're some insider, privy to information the rest of the world doesn't have. I admire your fervor and fandom, but quit making shit up as you go along.

I honestly don't see how people don't think Cronin is a lying scumbag after this.

At least Olshey was openly a piece of shit.

Cronin is a sneaky piece of shit.

Got to be a 3 team deal to get even close to fair value back.
I think Brooklyn could put together a fair enough package but I think it just needs to be the best possible deal for us that gets Dame to a team he's cool with, not necessarily his first choice but a team on a list. If it takes 3 or hell even four teams to get the best return then that's what needs to happen.

Woj just listed the Clippers, Heat and Spurs as his preferred destinations.

If I’m Portland, I’m looking at the Spurs. I believe they have a ton of 1st picks available.

Not to mention if they aren't lottery protected and the spurs happen to be in the lottery (not likely), it almost seems like a guaranteed 1st overall pick with how there luck is

As for the request itself: not a shocker, obviously. I'm fascinated to see what we get, and I can't promise I won't complain no matter what, but ... it's very unlikely I'd complain about anything we get for him.

I don't begrudge Dame. I don't blame the Blazers.

With all that being said: fuck giving him exactly what he wants (to Miami, without them giving up stuff of consequence). If he wants his $200,000,000, then he'll go wherever the team that trades for him is. The Blazers should seek the best deal for THEM, not for him.

Haha Cronin is trash what a sneaky bitch but either way it was time

Jovic/Jaquez/Herro/Salary Filler/2 1s/2 swaps

That’s my guess and I’m not happy. Anything less will make me puke.

I do think Herro is shipped somewhere else immediately.
My guess is it's a 3 or 4 team deal to make all the pieces work. Whoever ends up with Dame better hope some players sign for the vet min, because the cupboard is going to be bare.

I’m going to go on record saying that Wenbenyama has the Skinny Leg Syndrom which history has shown doesn’t always work out well.

Yes there is a difference between playing against next level opponents Vs college kids wanting to become next level opponents. But every rookie has a job to do in proving they were deserving of their pick, or that they should have been taken earlier.

Scoot could end up being more successful than Wembebyama. Wenbenyama could end up being MVP. Unknown…

I really wonder about the Grant deal, did Blazers know or did Dame wait till his buddy got over paid. If the latter that sucks and if I'm Blazers I'd consider backing out of deal and say FU, remember these are not signed deals. Yeah I am pissed if this is how it played out

With the way Joe and Mike value defense, length and mobility, I would be shocked if Ant and Nurk are on this roster come opening night

Blazers did not “know”

My opinion will change drastically if Dame is really saying Miami or nothing.
If he did say that, then he can f*** right off. He should have negotiated a no-trade clause in his deal.

We don't attract free agents anyway. We have no need to cater to his whims to appease the rest of the league. Send him wherever we can get the greatest return.

All the fans ripping on Dame -- that Epic rant I have been talking about is coming and all you fans that are doing this prepare and mods I will try and keep it pg-13 but no promises cause I am pissed at Jody and others.

Scoot and Shaedon are our future Ant can get 30 minutes coming off the bench behind those two guys. I think Nurk has to be included in the Dame trade. Again the Nets are the team that makes the most sense because they have a trade exception (actually two) big enough to take Nurk so we could shed salary, they have the picks, they have young players and expiring contracts.

Yep. If the team bends over backwards for Dame and doesn't make a move that will help secure their future then I think that will be the deciding factor on where this rebuild will be headed. You can only go as far as a competent front office will allow you.

same thing I said yesterday. do you let him walk for nothing? Look at some of the contracts that have been moved around. He’s an asset. You don’t let assets walk away for free.
Lord knows it’s happened before and every time it happens fans are in an uproar. We technically hold all the power, but in that we also hold any detriment to ourselves.

Don’t have to trade him, and I doubt he’d phone it in if we don’t. Can only imagine the fan response if that’s the way it went.

But if the writings on the wall then you would be foolish not to get something out of it.

This is the curse of Portland. They can never swing a big trade. It’s beyond them—and it’s why they’ll probably never win another championship. In an age when the good players are moving all the time, you have to be able to acquire them, and Portland can’t.
