And he was loyal, he was loyal when everyone was telling him he should leave. He was loyal for 11 seasons. If you go back and watch the interview on Showtime that he did when he said he wanted to have veterans around him to help win now and not youth, he said something else that was really important. Dame said that he wasn't stupid, implying that if he asked for this and it wasn't done that it would make him look stupid.Problem is, Dame made his whole league persona about loyalty and not running from the grind - and now he's doing just that.
Dame letting it be known publically that he wants to win shouldn't be a big deal. Of course he wants to win. What soon to be 33 year old superstar wouldn't? Why would Dame stating that make is so that good offers that would be on the table disappear? It shpuld be common knowledge around league circles that star players want to win... out a team likes a deal for themselves, I have a hard time seeing them not do a deal they want because the Blazers are in a tough spot and Dame wants to win. So if you people want to think there were never good offers on the table, fine. But to act like Dame sabotaged what would've been on the table doesn't make sense to me.
why do you post that imbecile danny marang here, fuck that fat prick

nice post.I'm as big of a fan of Dame as they come. And this is hitting hard.
But if it's true that Dame is pushing for Miami, it's hard to take his previous statements about not wanting to go the easy route really lose a lot of credibility.
Joining the eastern conference champs that fell short of a ring isn't exactly grind... No matter how you slice it.
Maybe Dame has issues with one or more people in the Blazers organization.
Maybe he wants the tax break.
Maybe he decided after all these years that a ring is necessary for him to feel accomplished.
Maybe Cronin told him we're not going to build around him ever.
Maybe he was pissed at being forced to sit the last month of a career year.
I don't think we'll ever know. But wanting to go to Miami really sours an already crappy situation. I really believed his dedication was to the city and the franchise up until this year. Hard to see it that way right now. He gave us a ton, and I've enjoyed the hell out of Dame as a Blazer. I wish it wasn't coming to an end. But I don't really see the loyalty to the franchise/fans.
Ultimately, he wants the ring. Fair enough.
Why do we always have to have a bad guy in these situations? I honestly don't blame either one.
Joes was smart to draft both Sharpe and Scoot. Dame wants to move on. As much as I love Dame, and wanted him to stay, I am ok with us moving on as well
Beveridge I think a lot of GMs would assume that, if the Blazers came to them to shop the 3rd pick looking for win-now pieces, then it'd beceause the Blazers & Dame want a win-now team over a rookie. I don't see how Dame stating that changes what would've been the status quo in negotiations. In the end teams make deals to better themselves. Scoot is a hell of a prospect. I don't see why a team would say no if they wanted him because Dame states the obvious.I seriously have no clue how you can't see him saying "I don't want to play with 19 year olds" and "I want to play in Miami" isn't completely sabotaging the blazers, I don't know what to say. You make great graphics, though.
or being the greatest blazer in the history or mocking pg 13 for running from the grind or this...

Shouldn't we be able to get something like what Utah got for Donovan Mitchell? Markannen, 3 unprotected FRP's , collin Sexton drafted #8 in 2022 and Ochai Agbaji, drafted #14 in 2022?

ITS THE ONLY FUCKING OPTION JOE DONT FUCK THIS UP YOU FUCKING FUCK.
I feel better.
What a change of events.
This might actually end up being a good thing for the forum in a year or so. The pessimistic folks from a year ago are changing to optimistic about blowing it up and watching scoot, sharpe, and whatever we can get for Dame do in the future.
Some of the optimistic folks that thought we could build around Dame are pissed right now.but after they process their grief they will come around.and be optimistic like the rest of us.
I haven't seen harmony like that on this forum like that since the Roy, Aldridge, Batum days. Until we got Oden and a couple years later the cake got burnt.
Looking forward to the future. Hoping this place gets less old man grouch as a result.
Good luck to Dame. I'll root for him wherever he goes but I hope the Blazers kick his ass.
It seems like Miami, but I’m being told it’s likely a 3rd team involved. Herro, Lowry, Jovic, Martin 3rd team assets, picks
Actually, thats so Blazersedge.Thats so sad.
this is an ugly situationIs it just me, or is this "star player has requested a trade" phenomenon fairly recent?
I don't remember players putting public pressure on organizations like this a decade ago.
(I'm not making any particular statement about Dame doing it. I just don't remember it being a thing.)

I took a break. Had a baby late last year and decided arguing with dudes on here about the Blazers wasn't worth it. It was a pretty depressing year as a Blazers fan too. I have thought for awhile moving on from Dame is the right decision if we couldn't put the right pieces around him. I think Olshey fucked that up long ago.Where did you disappear to?
Joe has to be willing to wait until training camp or beyond.
