Dame asks for trade (And there it is)

THAT would be a fascinating trade. It could result in us basically giving Dame away (while paying a massive salary for a dude who can't get on the floor) or result in the Blazers adding a future hall of famer.

You could always get rid of his salary.

You'll always get offers from Owners obsessed with STARS.
Cuban,Matt Ishbia, Vivek, Balmer with his stupid new arena etc

haha think we all feel sad about it.

that said, i told you all that dame asked out last week in his meeting with cronin w/ goodwin present.

I think that's become pretty clear. The conspiracy theory about Dame and Grant colluding was just swamp gas

This tweet is proof he knows nothing and has no source. Players don’t talk to him or Quick or Marang. I’ve stood talking to players as those guys walk by and try to say hi to them and they completely ignore them. They are stealing money from their employers.

It gives me immense pleasure to know marang gets ignored.

also, this notion of Dame making his request public on day 2 of FA so that the team he wants to go to doesn't exhaust its flexibility or roster spots.... just leaves such a bad taste. isn't this the guy who didn't want to make trade demands so that his friends wouldn't have to uproot their families? what happened to him?
People change their minds. Big deal.

I genuinely believe the FO had every intention of moving the #3 pick until Scoot fell into their laps. They changed their minds at that point and chose to live with the consequences of picking Scoot, knowing full well the likely outcome was a Dame trade request.

So it works both ways. Lillard probably feels lied to/misled/betrayed whatever you want to call it, and that feeling probably has something to do with why he doesn't give a shit anymore about how he handles this. Totally fair IMO, I would feel the same thing in his shoes.

They have lost a LOT of outside shooting. They almost have to get Dame at this point or they are going to be a little thin.

It seems to me one team in this equation is desperate to get a deal done because they are going for it this year, and that team's not us.

There's not a heck of a lot of incentive for the Blazers to send Dame to the Heat for scraps. In fact, I don't think it should be the Blazers that are looking for a third or fourth team to get this done. And if the Miami media and national talking heads want to skewer the Blazers for leaving Dame in limbo, oh well, cry me a river, I've got a young team to develop.

Dame does not have a no trade clause.

He is under contract for multiple years.

Joe has ALL the leverage here.

Dame is "hoping" we will trade him for cheap.

Joe must wait until Durant/Gobert level return is presented to him, otherwise, do not pull the trigger.

oh he absolutely gives a shit about how he handles it. he's been reposting commentary on IG nonstop, his cronies in the media are doing his work for him, and even his cousin is calling out the team/fans.

and i think it's only getting started.

Has anyone ever considered pumping dame with torodol? Instead of getting us 5 2nd round picks, it'll be 5 first round picka guaranteed. Miami will do anything to find that 3rd team then!

I mean, there's nothing stopping Pat Riley from saying the market dictates have been established, and sending Jovic, Caleb Martin and Jaquez here with picks and something they get from trading Herro probably are better terms than they have a right to expect. The more they lowball us, I would hope the more Cronin and the Vulcans ask for or threaten to ship Dame to another team, Only thing that seems to be stopping Dame from getting to the destination he wants is the obstinance of the destination he wants.

The Toradol by itself makes the total trade package worth more to the Blazers. That stuff doesn't grow on trees. Or maybe it does. Anyway, it's not free.

I don't think he's the one making his cronies do this. This is just how those people feel. They've wanted Dame out of Portland for so long.

But whatever, even through all the "taking the high road" bullshit he definitely feels betrayed, and he has a right to. And if he wants to be vengeful about it I can totally understand where that's coming from.

We don't, and shouldn't, cave to his demands though.

So, there are about three teams that Dame can potentially make an immediate contender. Miami, Philadelphia...Okay, maybe two, and it sounds like Philadephia is high on Maxey, and Dame would take the ball out of his hands. If Dame does not make a team an immediate contender, why would they go $200mil in on a guy with his skillset and at his age? I'm honestly curious. I'm not seeing it.

I get teams taking a flier on the expiring contract of a Harden. I'm not seeing or hearing any rumors of the market for Dame that people keep talking about. If Miami falls apart, who are the options?

Blazers

I honestly feel that there is a reason Dame specified Miami, and I think the rest of the league sees it as well. They have the defense to cover for him. They have Jimmy Butler who runs the team. They simply need a guy who can get a big bucket when the pressure is on. That is what Dame does, and does it very well.

That's good for Miami if they can make a deal (involve other team/s) to get Dame without having us lookin like a charity.

I'm a Dame fan, I will root for him except against the blazers. But I am a Blazers fan before and will be after Dame.

KD wanted out of Brooklyn and wanna go to Phoenix. Nets did not trade him that summer. By being patient, they got a good return.

It's possible, but I think if he, say, misses 135 games over the next two years (which is as many as he has the last two)... I think at some point even dumb owners would notice and say, "Hey... do we want to trade for a guy that has barely played the last four years, and is owed $125,000,000 over the remaining three years of his contract?"

Again... maybe. But (in this worst-case scenario) I think it would be unlikely.

I don't think Dame is a great GM. I don't think he is very good at picking guys to play with but i could be wrong.

For the record, I absolutely want to see him play in Miami and win a championship...Cannot lie. I'm a fan of him and a fan of fun basketball. Dame, Butler and Bam would be fun basketball.

by the way, I think this needs to be said: I didn't think Dame would ask out; I wasn't sure and I certainly allowed for the possibility, but I thought there was a better than even chance he wouldn't

I was wrong about that

what has impressed me, a little, is that the people who were right, or at least most with a couple of exceptions, haven't been in this forum running 'I-told-you-so' victory laps. A few laps but nobody has really gone anywhere close to going overboard in neener-neener. Good display of maturity guys
Would now be a bad time to tell you about the billboard that I commissioned outside your house?

Boston is deemed as a contender. If in Feb, they see themselves in the vicinity of play-in instead of HCA, you best believe Jalen Brown will be available.

I'm not that high oh him, but he is better than the Miami package

Hope they lose in the first round. I treat spite with spite.

Actors, athletes, and musicians...I just want to be entertained and love the visual representation of the pursuit of excellence and creativity. May sound hokie. I just don't give a shit about the drama and behind-the-scenes (except for things like rape and other acts of violence). Tom Cruise, may be bat-shit crazy, but I'll still appreciate his work if it's a movie I enjoy. Just a random example.

Dame seems to be going through some shit, and that's for him to deal with, and I hope he finds what he's looking for.
