Exactly. And I'm sorry but Mitchell is not as good as Dame.
You don't have to apologize. It doesn't mean we'll get anything close to as good as that haul. Danny Ainge v Joe Cronin and even more importantly timing... Ainge made that trade because he wanted to and the Cavs wanted a win now move.

Here is my new batshit insane trade. Clears out some room on our team, brings in a ton of young talent, and we get an assload of picks.

Scoot/Lowry
Shaedon/Thybulle/Keon
Simmons/Martin/Jaquez/Rupert
Grant/Jovic/Clowney/Murray
Claxton/Collins/JBJ
We should also have the rights to swap picks with the Heat in 27 and 29. If they want Dame, they have to pay whatever we want outside from Jimmy and Bam

I think my semi-realistic dream scenario for our rotation next season would be

Scoot
Shaedon
Simmons
Grant
Claxton

With Simons/Thybulle/Martin/Jovic off the bench. Then we'd have Murray/Jaquez/Rupert to set out and see which one we like the best. I think Rupert is going to take a while to develop. I think Jaquez and Murray could step in right away and play.

Dont' agree. I am not saying every move Joe made was wise. But one can argue that every move was to get pieces to build around Dame. Even the tank the last two years.

He did not know they would move up in the lottery and he did not know Scoot would fall to 3. So those who say Joe drafted Scoot so Dame would want out are not thinking clearly IMO. He just was not willing to move #3, Sharpe, and Ant for 1 player. #3 yes, but he would be an idiot to give away Sharpe too.
These are the same people that usually preach taking the BPA in the draft. Then when you do, they whinge about positional fit.

This Mitchell trade is a good template.

Some potential Lauri equivalents I see throughout the league (youngish guy who hasn't had the opportunity or usage, with potential to be better, who can be the definitive headliner in the trade along with picks/assets).

- Ayton
- Sengun
- Okongwu
- Jabari Smith?
- Kuminga
- Franz Wagner
- Keldon Johnson
- OG / Barnes

I LOVE the optimism, but I'll be surprise if we get more than 3 1st round picks in the Dame deal.....maybe a 4th if Simmons is included. I just can't see him getting more than Durant did, but would be very happy to be incorrect in that matter. I just hope they are 'good' picks and not ones we went up selecting in the 2o's.

Yeah but we aren't getting a player even remotely as good as Bridges in this deal.

I'd be excited to get Jabari, Eason, Franz (not happening).

Here are some other targets as suggested in a different thread. "Wish-list"

I think this should be the starting point for Cronin. Like a Big Board in the draft.
Then try to figure a way to make a trade to get that player or players.
Forget at the beginning where Dame wants to go. The focus should be on making the Trail Blazers as strong as possible.

Anthony Black
Nic Claxton (+ Noah Clowney)
Jeremy Sochan
Scottie Barnes
Herb Jones / Trey Murphy III
Jaylen Brown
Taylor Hendricks
Zion
Evan Mobley
Chet Holmgren
Jarace Walker
Achiuwa + Koloko

I hope "these people" isn't referring to me. I actually wanted to use the picks the past two years, regardless of position.
I meant in general. I realized after posting that you might think that, but I was too lazy to edit.

Even if we don’t want Martin I want him in the deal going to the 3rd team, just so Miami is unhappy about it.
That's all well and good from a spiteful fan standpoint but if they like Martin and that makes it so they have to give a second rounder to OKC to free up their first next year and we get that value instead then that is the prudent thing to do.

I’m talking from a spiteful standpoint, I’ve always hated Riley.

Truth be told, Riley will be done in the next two years. This is his last opportunity to get one and his odds aren't great, even with Dame. He will be 80 in two years, Butler is not getting any younger and neither is Dame. They lost some meat off of their lucky finals run and the team has the same window as Riley. Two year run for all before the total rebuild.

Riley has to get this right as much as we do. Hold out JOE!

Question:

Pick from Brooklyn, 2025 Round 1 via Phoenix

Does that mean the pick is based off of Brooklyn or Phoenix's regular season record? In other words, if you are traded that pick, do you want Brooklyn or Phonenix to suck?
