If the Blazers and Dame want drama, here is the statement I want Cronin to issue:

“We have listened to many proposals for accommodating the requested trade by Damian Lillard. None have come close to the value that our franchise and fan base put on Dame as a player and community icon. At this point we want to welcome Dame to stay, with open arms, and help us rise to a new beginning.”


That would put a stirring paddle in the pot.

I actually think it would be better for Dame to stay completely silent right now but he is right that people should not

It would be better if he was silent but he isn't and "his" people are far from silent and the story they are telling is anything but professional from Dame's side.

Dame's agent has explicitly said he's been working to torpedo any value Portland could get for Dame in trades with team other than Miami

so we know that much, and it's certainly enough to judge the part of the situation in front of us

I want them to trade Dame too, but this feels like getting bullied by Goodwin and Dame. What do the Blazers really lose by refusing to trade Dame until Dame increases his trade list. If Miami really wanted Dame, they would be making moves to give the Blazers better assets. Didn’t Dame even acknowledge in May/June that he would be worth a lot in a trade? The guy on a pod with Highkin mentioned this yesterday. KD also had only one destination but revealed it only behind closed doors and agreed to stay in BK through the season to work out a move to Phoenix eventually. Why Goodwin is pulling this power play is beyond me. He's actually made it LESS likely for a trade to happen now to Miami.
