Brown shot 16% from 3 in the ECF, then gets 60m per season. It's a head scratcher.304 mill for a guy who can't dribble.
Unbelievable.

304 million for Jaylen Brown?
No wonder Cronin scared Lillard off the team. The small market Blazers franchise simply can't afford to pay multiple next gen All-Star salaries.
The Celtics are a very popular and heralded NBA franchise. The Blazers look like an estate sale before the team is put on Zillow. How exactly do you figure that? At the time of his death, Paul Allen was worth $20.3 BILLION DOLLARS. He was the 44th wealthiest person on earth. Since then, franchise value has only gone up and the new TV deal is coming soon. We can absolutely afford to pay those salaries. We just aren't.
August 1Yeah it's either 7/31 or 8/1. Not sure which. But it will start to get interesting once he's available for trade.
If ... Jaquez is to be part of the Lillard to Heat trade, is it safe to assume the Dame trade was almost patched up this whole time, and the Blazers asked Miami to draft Jaquez with their 1st round pick?

I see they also have Scoot as 8/1. I think Scoot signed 7/1? Thus 30 days would mean he is eligible to be traded 7/31. Perhaps Spotrac just lists all rookies as eligible 8/1.
I find this very hard to believe because Jaquez is such a stretch to be drafted at that spot, and he doesn't really provide anything over Murray. He's very old with low upside. He makes much more sense to a team trying to win right away with luxury tax concerns and needing a role player - such as Miami. He doesn't make sense to a rebuilding team hoping to hit on upside like the Blazers. If ... Congratulations! It was my daughter. Would you want any of this forum's delinquents around your daughter?!
my hot take is that I dont think there is much of a potential value loss by waiting till the deadline or next summer.Regardless of when Mr. Lillard moves on to a new team, it will not net the f*ck ton of value many feel they want, and that the Blazers deserve.

the discomfort and pr hit is just something you have to deal with.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...ankings-post-offseason-edition-changed-summerThere's no pressure on Portland. People expect the Blazers to be a lottery team next season.
"I only want to go to Miami."
I think the next event is Jacquez being trade eligible? Anyone know if he signed 7/1? Normally thats when all the rookies sign. If so I believe his restriction would end Sunday 7/30 so he could be traded Monday or later.
If we all of the sudden start hearing a lot of additional rumors Sunday or Monday perhaps these negotiations are further along then we thought.
If its still crickets then I'd suspect nothing changes until a few weeks prior to training camp. Media day and training camp is at the end of September, so that would likely mean nothing will happen until mid September.
I'd expect most front offices, GM's, assistants, and owners actually go on vacation. Sure they can be reached if need be. But if were still very far apart on a trade which appears to be the status, I'd think they instead just prefer to shut the office down and revisit these negotiations closer to training camp. This type of trade will need a ton of review from all over teams management so its not something Cronin or others will want to finalize with a bunch of the front office calling in over skype.
Wow! Orlando Robinson! He may almost be as good as Drew Eubanks!I thought we had to wait until December, but if we only have to wait until September to get Orlando Robinson, I say we wait until September.

Everybody, please stop getting excited about the flotsam on the M'eat roster. They have absolute crap to offer. They only look halfway decent because the system is good in Miami and we're so f***ing terrible.
No....no value loss. But potential developmental loss.my hot take is that I dont think there is much of a potential value loss by waiting till the deadline or next summer.
It's funny..... because Dame is right. He doesn't know what it's like to be a vet min guy. He has his bag. He has ALWAYS had his bag.
I was listening to Marang today and they were talking about this Austin Rivers quote. They brought up an interesting thing. Dame and to a smaller extent Harden, are holding up the entire league. There are a ton of free agents who are just sitting out there waiting for Dame to get traded. Miami isn't going to sign anyone. We aren't going to sign anyone. So it's funny that Dame with his insane contract is telling a dude who is paycheck to paycheck is speaking on things that he doesn't know. Marang and Dusty were saying that the vet min guys are going to start getting pissed at stars like Dame for affecting their money.
Rivers spoke a lot about not liking the new CBA and that there's a huge gap now between the haves and the have nots of the league. Gonna be a few dudes who are making 40-60 million and then a bunch of dudes who are making significantly less money.
That's what's great about being a Blazer fan. We're starting off the season disappointed. One thing that needs to be kept in mind is that right now, every team in the NBA has the same record for the 2023-24 season, and (at least in the minds of many fans) every team has a shot at being a contender.
There are some Detroit fans that think the Pistons will be a contender next season.
Whether that is realistic or ridiculous doesn't matter.
What matters is that by the trade deadline, and certainly by the end of next season, there are going to be A LOT of disappointing teams and disappointed fans. Teams and fans that right now are happy.
Personally, I'm excited. That's what's great about being a Blazer fan. We're starting off the season disappointed.
Sure but which matters more, a partial loss of development of Sharpe and Scoot...or getting pennies on the dollar for the most important trade in franchise history since Drexler?No....no value loss. But potential developmental loss.
Same! The Sharpe/Scoot era begins and I'm here for it!Personally, I'm excited.
I'm always excited for Blazer basketball. I was just being snarky.Personally, I'm excited.
Who said pennies on the dollar?Sure but which matters more, a partial loss of development of Sharpe and Scoot...or getting pennies on the dollar for the most important trade in franchise history since Drexler?
If Miami is the only option (very possible this summer), then that’s exactly what we would get. Perhaps I should have said pennies for the Dolla.Who said pennies on the dollar?
