Top 3 pick is great but not essential. Any lottery pick would inevitably help this team, whether as a prospect or in a trade. Billy King famously only protected his 2012 pick top 3 (that he traded to us in the Gerald Wallace deal) and claimed there were only three high level prospects in that draft. We all know how that turned out.
Sidebar: I did some digging. Apparently, those three players he felt were surefire stars were AD/Kidd-Gilchrist/Thomas Robinson.
