I would not disagree. Letting him walk? Not an option. Too much value. Sign and trade (to where Ayton wants to go and who wants him for $$$) or keep him in the short term and trade ASAP to get salaries in line. [And Sarver is just trying to hold onto ownership after his own issues.]
Keeping him at $30 million-plus when they have CP3 ($28.4 million), Booker ($33.8), and Bridges ($20.1) for $82+ million? 2nd highest paid Sun? They pay Crowder and Payne reasonable contracts but have Cam Johnson's $$$ to pay after next year. Ayton at their #2? When was the last time Phoenix had a center who they played through? Or used well? At least Monty Williams knows the value of a really good center, but it's not their history.
