Zombie Derrick Jones to Portland

I was ready to tip my cap to Olshey, but this move prevents that.

Come playoff time, teams will force a 28% 3pt shooter to beat them and take away Dame.

Well it's a good thing they have other SF's that can play defense and not just Jones.

I will say one thing -- Nassir Little they are kind of similar Jones more athletic but same kind of player so i have to wonder if this could mean another deal is in the work maybe using Whiteside and Little in a S & T deal for something maybe i am wrong but again let's see how this plays out before wanting to tar and feather NeO

I know next to nothing about him - but he is only 23 so seems like he can improve on what he has been.

The contract is fine, whoever we were going to sign was going to get this same contract.

But the player? We really chose this guy over Crowder, JaMychal Green, Marcus Morris, Millsap, Harkless, etc.?

I guess the kicker is that the player has to want to play here...

But Jones isn't going to be a starter....

I'm not worried about who starts. For that price, I wanted us to add a guy who could keep the floor spaced when Dame is on the floor.

Mario, Turner, Harkless, and Aminu are better floor spacers than Jones. We've seen that movie.

None of those guys space the floor. Aminu sometimes. But at least DJJ defends.

I like it! This team is being built to beat on motherfuckers!

We don't need 3pt shooters at every position. We need toughness, defense, and attitude.

We're getting that!

this team is being built to compete/guard guys on the Lakers and Clippers. We have scorers we need defense and we got two very good defenders

Why it's looks now you Hood and Covington and the fowards position and Nurk at center and Dame and CJ at guards. 2nd unit Simons and Trent at guards Jones and Zach at fowards and Kanter at center. One thing both unit will be pretty good defensely. Then you got Little and the rookie and we need 2 or 3 more players to fill out the roster.

If i was to compare DJJ to an old Blazer it would be Ruben Patterson -- he could not do anything cept attack the rim and defend and he worked out pretty well so maybe he turns into that type of player with the Blazers but again let's see what other move or moves NeO might pull of this offseason.

That's my point... they caused us the same issues Jones will.

Jones won't be on the floor when it counts. It's going to be 2/3 of Hood/Covington/Trent with Dame/CJ and Nurk anchoring the middle. Zach maybe playing center if they are going all offense.

OKAY, one positive of this deal is that its 99% guaranteed no more Melo. Where are his minutes going to come from?

Again... I was hoping we would use the MLE on a guy who could be on the court when it counts.

We could have signed a lot of people for less than the MLE that won't play when it count.

They have to want to play here. This deal tells me that those guys.....didn't want to play here.

I am not so sure this takes Melo off the Table since Melo is more of a 4 now -- i mean granted prolly not as likely but i would not be surprised to see within next 24 hours -- Blazers re-sign Melo for the 3.7 using the Bi Ann

Okay, from what I can see from Miami's side, sounds like Crowder wants two years guaranteed, and maybe that's why we didn't make the deal for him.

What's the difference between this guy and Kent Bazemore?

I think it takes everyone off the table because it's going to be all minimums from here on out to prevent us from going over the tax.

I need that second yr to be a team option. Only way this is even remotely palatable.

I love how everyone is looking out for Judy Allen's money and assuming they do not want to go over the tax line cause even IF they used Bi-Ann they would either be just under or just over so not exactly a huge blow -- LOL
