Dion Waiters

Listening to Chad Ford it sounds like Waiters is a lock to go top-10.

Before he cancelled all his workouts Ford did mention that after workouts he'd be a lock to go in the top-10.

The Raptors (#8) and Hornets (#10) are very high on him and is a prime candidate for these picks.

If the Blazers want him I think you have to use the #6.

I hope Waiters goes #5, or 7-10. I'm sure he will be a good player, but I can't be convinced to draft a guy at 6 who couldn't even start on his college team, and is underlengthed for his position.

This is just the role his coach had for him. He was NCAA's James Harden and by far their best player.

Yeah, drafting a 22 year old combo guard out of a school smaller than most JUCO's is soooo much better.

Didn't Zach Randolph come off the bench at MSU?

Waiters at #6? I think so.

Analysis: The Raptors were high on Waiters early, but his stock has risen so rapidly that he could very well be off the board when they pick. If that's the case, Lillard may be the next best thing to Waiters as a dynamic backcourt scorer, which the team has lacked.

The Raptors are also open to trading their pick for a veteran wing, who would add some stability to their roster. If they keep the pick, Jeremy Lamb and Austin Rivers are also in the mix here.

Looking at it again it's not as bad as I remember

That said, still looks a little off

Connecting the dots and what teams were interested (Raptors) I had a hunch it would be our #6 pick.

No way do you cancel EVERYTHING for a late lotto promise.

Tince is on to something here.

I find it hard to believe we promised a guy that hasn't been in for a workout.

One thing I do like about Waiters is he seems to have a lot of confidence. Sign me up for him at 11. I'll be disappointed in him at 6. Such a small 2 guard though.

He canceled interviews (let alone workouts) before the combine even started.

I think to make sure he'd be available at #6, we'd make this kind of promise.

my source says olshey and PA were up all night talking prospects after their handshake deal, and they called waiters to guarantee him at the #6 pick at 3:30 AM june 4th

You don't promise a guy you haven't even brought in. I'm not buying it.

This thread happened a few days before Waiters cancelled everything. DX mentioned that Olshey "fell for" Waiters -- but I'm guessing our scouts had more to do with that than him.

Without a GM I'm pretty sure the scouts had a gameplan in place for the new GM this close to the draft.

I like that he averaged 1.8 spg in 24 min

That said, this guy measures smaller than Rodney Stuckey. He's undersized.

Waiters at 6 and I'm going for Olshey's head

He's the same size as Eric Gordon, I don't see any problem with his height.

Eric Gordon was a star from day 1

Waiters was a bench player at Syracuse?

I think he'll be decent, but I also think he's being kind of overrated. I really have no idea how well he'll transition to the league.

Every scouting report says that he can get into the paint at will and can absorb contact and finish. That will translate.

this draft has turned into a giant meh for me if we dont get beal or drummond

Syracuse guys are always shitty defenders because all Boeheim plays is a zone. Horrible man defenders I tell ya.
