This has always been my argument regarding access to Blazer games. I always felt that local interest in the team was greater when the games were available to everyone. Obviously I've never seen the team's financial statements, so I could be way off on the financial value of a higher-cost restricted TV deal, but it just seems counter-productive to limit your audience.

If only OPB broadcasted the games.

quite a few more people other than just Greg Biggins have said that. Moore has been a standout in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 camps this summer and has impressed a lot of knowledgeable people. Manning was anointed as the #1 QB in no small part because of his name. He's good, but Moore has shown just as much, if not more, against tough competition

Perhaps better competition, but I think even more so, he isn't surrounded by 4 and 5 star prospects. He doesn't have 3 WRs wide-open on every play. He doesn't have all day to throw. He has had to battle through adversity and deal with pressure already.

I like it.

What kind of system best fits him? I’m guessing a pro style since that’s what Oregon runs now, if I’m not mistaken.

Good get for the Ducks, congrats

Awwww Shit!!! All sorts of new smoke that stud RB Richard Young is about to Quack as well!

I have been seeing that on message boards for a while. And a little birdie told me that Oregon is neck and neck with Alabama for the kid, and that was before the Moore quack. Some people are convinced that Young left Oregon a couple of weeks ago as a silent commit. I'm still skeptical Oregon can pull a stud RB out of the south that Alabama really wants...but they just did pull a stud QB out of Detroit that Michigan and Notre Dame really wanted

I said new smoke. My little birdie is Oregon RB coach Locklyn’s twitter account. You don't post the sorts of things he's putting up there post Moore's commit if you're neck and neck with whoever, you post it if you know that good news is about to happen...

I wonder if these "commits" will mean more than the ones Altman has been getting?

that's a chunk of my reaction to all this crap. Another chunk is the realization that the Big-10 schools will be collecting 50-80M/year more than the Ducks and that may be too steep a hill to overcome

Not only that, but the fact that recruiting the 4 & 5 star athletes will be much more difficult when it becomes apparent that the power conferences rule the national championship games.

and the fact that since the NCAA doesn't actually run anything post-season-wise, it wouldn't be difficult for the SEC and Big-10 to expand to the point where they have enough of the biggest programs to basically create their own national championship playoff, in which Oregon would be unable to participate if they didn't join up with the rest of the big boys.

be a pretty difficult case to make that Rutgers, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt were eligible for a national championship but Oregon, Washington, and Stanford were not. And for that matter, with how firmly the ACC has their members locked up till 2036, teams like Clemson and North Carolina wouldn't be eligible either

You don't think Clemson and UNC would be able to get out if they really wanted to--that is, if the SEC really wanted them to? No idea what the early exit penalties are, but I imagine there's a number that the SEC could meet if they wanted to.

the early exit penalties for any ACC team, other than Notre Dame (which has independent status in football), are estimated to be in the 400-600M range. That includes the provision in the GOR each school signed that calls for a forfeiture of TV revenue till 2036.

The GOR (grant of rights) each school signed is by far the most punitive any school has signed with any conference. Not even close

I've read that the only way any school could get out of the deal (without going bankrupt) is for the ACC to fold. IIRC, that would take a vote of 2/3 of the schools (might have that wrong...majority?) and since most of the schools would not be going to the SEC or Big-10, that seems unlikely

never say never of course, and with Fox, ESPN, NBC etc. involved, a lot of squeaky wheels could get a lot of green grease

Wow, that's massive. I had no idea. Thanks.
