You have to do a good sell job, to convince some highly touted athletes to come to Eugene. Some schools and cities sell themselves.recruiting isn't for wimps, that's for sure
Scott Frost famously said "you can't recruit to Eugene". Mario proved him wrong, although it sure looks like Mario was a better star-hunter than talent evaluator. But still, the major recruiting hot-beds in the country, other than LA, are more than 2000 miles from Eugene. The Ducks are starting the races for these kids with a major handicap
the Ducks have been bridesmaids for elite recruits a bunch of times. This year has been bizarre though. There was the the Dante Moore saga that pivoted on ASU firing Herm Edwards then hiring Dillingham. Then there was the whole Bowens fiasco that apparently shifted David Hicks from Oregon back to Texas A&M. And now Harbor
I was a bit suspicious of the Harbor situation when it was reported his mom didn't even make the trip out to Oregon. If I was a cynical person (ha!) I'd surmise that Harbor's trip to Eugene was nothing more than a power play to leverage a better NIL deal out of South Carolina; and reportedly it worked like a charm. Besides that, it sure appears T&F is more important than football for Harbor. And while Hayward Field is a magical world class facility with decades of history, Harbor is a sprinter and it was below freezing every morning he was in Eugene. That's not sprinter's climate
dealing with the minds of 17 & 18 year olds....good luck with that

To each their own own, Eugene is pretty ideal for me. The Willamette Valley is amazing... big cities? Not so much. You have to do a good sell job, to convince some highly touted athletes to come to Eugene. Some schools and cities sell themselves.
I read this morning that he maybe waiting for the baseball draft to see what happens. Some think that's his first choice?Duce Robinson did not commit and word is the Ducks are still trying to get him but face super stiff competition from Georgia , USC and a couple others so who knows prolly a super longshot cause my guess is he will go Georgia or USC but will never count out the Ducks.

Pro's or nothing....Billings MustangsSo Beavers!
The Trojans landed a 4* TE yesterday named Walker Lyons which probably doesn't help their cause with Duce. From what I've read, Robinson hasn't visited UO yet and has stated he plans to. Maybe that factored into his decision not to commit? He's also a big time baseball prospect and would be a dual sport athlete in college. However, if he goes high enough in that draft next summer, he might never show up on any campus.Duce Robinson did not commit and word is the Ducks are still trying to get him but face super stiff competition from Georgia , USC and a couple others so who knows prolly a super longshot cause my guess is he will go Georgia or USC but will never count out the Ducks.
I'm about a month away from watching any college basketball. Do they play in February? Like actual games?Ducks men' basketball: somehow beat Arizona State on the road. by 5 I think. Bittle, who I thought might be coming around lately, was terrible. The team, for the third straight game, was terrible against a press. Surprising for an experienced and supposedly well coached team. Be surprised if they get into the NCAA's.
Yes, they play for the right to play in those games in March that you like to watch,I'm about a month away from watching any college basketball. Do they play in February? Like actual games?
Yes, they play for the right to play in those games in March that you like to watch,Doubt if Ducks will be there. Would need to beat USC and UCLA this week for starters or win the Pac 12 tournament. They just don't seem to have what it takes. Any team that gets behind can just start pressing and Ducks will cough it up.
Men's basketball team winding down it's season with another loss to a mediocre team. Three seven footers. two of them McDonald's All Amerians and the third a five star recruit who is actually much better than either of the others.
Nobody who could take over a game like Pritchard, nobody with the intensity of a Dillon Brooks or the tenacity of a Jordan Bell. Not even a dependable sharpshooter like Dorsey.
Very disappointing two seasons. I wonder if any of the seven footers will be back? Dante will make a try for NBA and the other two probably transfer, Bittle to find a league with less competition and Ware to find a coach who will let him be his unmotivated self.

Malik was pretty good. I'd say he was the best player on the team. The starting lineup for the Elite 8 team was pretty solid, though no superstars. I believe Dunigan was a different class.Bittle is a huge bust. Wasn’t he a 5 star recruit? Never understood the hype regarding him in high school.
Over the years Oregon basketball has had a ton of highly recruited guys that never amounted to anything. I remember the year they got Malik Hairston, Bryce Taylor and the prized Dunigan. Maarty Leunen was better than any of those guys
I believe Dante is out of eligibility so he gone. Bittle needs to refine his jumper mechanics as the only road to success for him offensively is outside in... regardless, I expect he'll return. Ware, I expect to go pro or elsewhere but we shall see. To me the Bigs weren't the problem, it was the lack of shooting from the wings.Men's basketball team winding down it's season with another loss to a mediocre team. I guess Bittle found out that competitors in the Pac 12 have a lot more agility, athleticism and strength than kids in southern Oregon.Bittle is a huge bust. Wasn’t he a 5 star recruit? Never understood the hype regarding him in high school.

STOMP
As a sports fan I root for the laundry, but I truly want the best for Dante. Well beyond this season, lets go Peanut Butter!Dante injured his ankle late and may not play against UCLA in the senifinals tomorrow. Too bad, cuz the announcers seemed to believe Oregon could get into the NCAA's if they won tomorrow..
