True. I remember watching the ducks in the early 90's. Autzen was a bare bones bowl, and the starting QB was Danny O'Neil. Kind of a Fresno State level program back then, with a mediocre offense. Montana and Dave Dickenson gave them all they wanted that day. Now it's big boy level. I wish somehow the Pac 12 could remain. F those Smogtowners. I'm excited about the trajectory of the Ducks under Coach Lanning. The Ducks Football Program doesn't need to play second fiddle to anyone, and sure as hell doesn't need to beg for the Big 10 to somehow let them in. FUCK the Big 10. Long live the new Pac 10, or 12, or 20.
Sounds like we could be back to the PAC-8

The late game on Saturday nights are my favorites. Maybe the boozers don't like it cause they're already too liquored up by game time, but i love coming home from work and watching them. I'm usually snoozing through those Eastern breakfast games. I think a Network ought to make sure the Pac 12, or 8 schedule stays mainly in the West. Make them SEC schools come out west more often. They probably don't want too cause their students might fall in love with the environment.

I remember mid to late 80s going down to Duck games at Autzen with my dad. Pull up about 20 minutes before kickoff….parking spaces everywhere. Walk right up, get tickets and sit midfield. Lost every time we went, but will never forget those days!

Me too, but you and I are watching on TV. I fly up for one game a year. (Usually in September when the weather tends to be nice) But I feel for those fans who drive down from Portland and don't get home until about 2AM. after sitting in the cold for 3-4 hours. Hotel room prices are jacked up for home games so that is not an option for many. These fans are spending a lot of money to support their team, and should not be screwed over by the TV networks. Hell, they often don't even schedule the time of the game until a week before.

I remember riding my bike over there with a friend at halftime; because they would let you in for free at halftime! Then later it got so you had to wait until one quarter left, then later as they got better, no free watching...

I wanted to attend the Ducks vs. Bulldogs season opener but, alas, not gonna pay $300 per ticket. I'll just smoke a brisket, watch the game on tv, and call it a day.

GO BULLDOGS!!

Smoke a brisket? I haven't tried that strain. Sounds heavy, man.

Continue to build, and play at the highest level, and the Ducks will get their chance to smoke those swamp boys.

Yep. We dont even go to late night games anymore because we don't want to get home so late. We have season tickets to the Beavs.

For me, Id prefer they stayed in the Pac if they George can negotiate a decent financial package. They could also add a few decent teams.
You cant underestimate the hardship of the kind of travel that would be required if they joined big10.

The problem is how much is Phil pushing for them to be in the Big 10? I too would rather them try to be the kings of the new Pac 12 conference after adding a couple of teams. But the pull of the money seems to be all that matters anymore. And the "who cares about what happens to those left behind" sucks in the highest. I'm enjoying watching the construction on Reser Stadium on the daily webcam, and it just sucks to think the rivalry with the Ducks may go by the wayside. The Beavers are getting better under Jonathan Smith, and may get back to the Dennis Erickson era level. That would be awesome if they were good too. Man! the possibilities. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but the Big 10(SUCKS!) second hand offering for the Ducks to join their Stuper conference might be too much to pass up.

As this goes on I'm shocked that Nike and UofO didn't get wind of USC and UCLA looking at leaving AND disappointed that Nike and UofO didn't see the writing on the wall and decide to jump for greener pastures first.

The Ducks should stay in the Pac 12 with the exception of football. Nike should start their own football league. College football is going to end up with 2 super conferences within the next 5-10 years, why not be a leader in that instead of looking to join up with someone else?

Going to be interesting to see what kind of financial package George can come up with?
Oregon & WA may end up re-signing with the PAC for another 4/5 years?

I hope so. Boise State and San Diego State make sense. BYU would have made more sense in the Pac 12 than Big 12. Oh well. F USC Condems & UCLA.

It is crazy Nike didn’t know. As far as a Nike league, seems far fetched. What if some school changes to adidas or UA?

USC has been slimy as hell for a long time and it's almost like they wanted to destroy the Pac-12 while leaving:

https://www.latimes.com/sports/story/2022-07-29/usc-president-carol-folt-pac-12-expansion

pretty substantial reporting that shortly after that it was USC that secretly contacted the Big-10 AND Fox. The negotiations had been going on for months before the announcement of USC/UCLA leaving

to summarize, USC torpedoed an opportunity for the Pac-12 to add teams and the leverage of expanded markets. Then they left the conference. Buncha assholes, but they have always been that

****************************************************************************

this guy is really well connected to the Big-10. That's not to say he's an impeachable source, but he was the one that predicted USC/UCLA to the Big-10 in April of this year:

check the date of that video....it's April 4th...more than 2 months before the news broke nationally

he also had to correct a clown from the ACC who has been a serial tweeter of total bullshit:

he seems convinced that it will be Notre Dame + Oregon-Washington-Stanford joining, bringing the Big-10 to 20 teams. Probably 4 five team pods if that's the case.

the problem with remaining in what's left of the Pac-12 is that those Big-10/SEC teams could be earning 50-80M/year more. There's simply no way to compete if you're a program making 500M-800M less in a decade.

now I'm not as convinced as that guy the Ducks are headed to the Big-10. I am convinced that the Big-10 and Fox Sports see the value in having 5 teams who can fill the 10-11PM Eastern time slots on Saturday. That's been a big earner for ESPN and Fox wants to take market share from ESPN

I think an Adidas league would be great.

I mean there will eventually be two conferences. Why not a Nike vs Adidas as chief sponsors of each league? They would come with built-in advertising money to the networks that made deals with them.

Georges strategy I think is to get a financial package deal done soon, then get OR/WA/Others to, sign a Grants of Right commitment, for 4/5 years or so.

I don't think Oregon would sign it unless it's ridiculously generous.

San Diego and Boise St only hurt the Pac 12.

Boise will do okay in football but the rest of their sports are not Pac 12 level.

San Diego will help teams like OSU become bowl eligible.
