Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning gets portrait tattoo of wife Sauphia with several meaningful symbols

Dan Lanning got inked.

Oregon’s head coach got a portrait of his wife, Sauphia, tattooed on his ribs that includes the names of their sons, Caden, Kniles and Titan, as well as several symbols for each of the colleges where he’s worked.

Artist Alex Turner of Black Label Tattoo in Eugene posted a video of Lanning’s tattoo on Saturday.

“Shout out my brother @coachdanlanning for sitting like a rock for this,” Turner wrote via Instagram. “Was an honor and a pleasure my dude.”

The tattoo includes the area code 816 of the greater Kansas City area, where Dan and Sauphia are from, and a boomerang for the Outback Steakhouse where they first met while he was playing at William Jewell College and she attended Northwest Missouri State.

There are also logos for Pittsburgh, where Lanning began his college coaching career, Arizona State, the state of Texas for Sam Houston State, Alabama, and 33-18, the score of last year’s College Football Playoff National Championship game in which Lanning served as Georgia’s defensive coordinator.

There is also a yellow cancer ribbon for the osteosarcoma Sauphia had in her knee while they were at Memphis, surrounded by Oregon’s logo.

This gave me the most awkward boner

Bennett Williams little brother Evan is a Safety who entered the portal after excelling at Fresno State has just committed to Oregon. He was 1st team All Mountain West in 2021 and 2nd team last year slipping likely because of an injury that kept him out of 4 games. I'm pretty sure he's got 2 years of eligibility left.

Cam McCormick has entered the transfer portal and will use his 8th year of eligibility someplace else.

Love Cam and wish him the best... btw, he's got both an 8th and a 9th year of eligibility left.

I've read that the guys who're past the 4 years of their original scholarship are the most likely to have their slot given out to all these new guys they're bringing on.

How are they gonna fit all these players...
you're asking a question thats already been addressed/answered several times before you posted this. That answer hasn't changed.

In less then a month the 2nd commitment day for HS prospects happens and Oregon is likely to have even more new faces in the mix.

So thus far from the portal Oregon has lost 18 and added 9... those 9 are WR Traeshon Holden, WR Tex Johnson, OL Junior Angilau, OL Ajani Cornelius, LB Jestin Jacobs, LB Connor Soelle, DB Khyree Jackson, DB Evan Williams & DE Jordon Burch.

Thanks. I appreciate the updates.

Now, this guy will be just a sophomore.
"Georgia Bulldogs true freshman cornerback Jaheim Singletary, a former 5-star commit from the 2022 class, announced that he would be entering the transfer portal and looking for a new school. Singletary committed to the Bulldogs as the No. 5 CB in the nation, and No. 27 overall player in the 2022 class.
This is interesting for Oregon fans for two reasons; the Ducks have a need to fill at the cornerback position, even after adding Alabama transfer Khyree Jackson earlier in the offseason, and Lanning has a relationship with Singletary already.

While Lanning is not listed as one of the primary recruiters for Singletary on 247Sports, it’s safe to assume that as the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs when the 5-star CB committed to Georgia, the two have a good relationship. Singletary also took a visit to Eugene back in December of 2019."

I enjoy the updates also. Never really followed the recruiting very close at all. Kinda fun to read about it.

I wouldn't say I "enjoy" the updates.
maybe you'd enjoy it if yet again I relayed the link to a favorite Duck football resource/site that displays the current depth chart at each spot with active links to each player??? As you probably fondly recall, you can query it to display star rankings from the various sites & go back a decade plus to see who played in individual games. Woot woot, have fun!

Sophomore WR Isaiah Brevard has entered the transfer portal. Ducks are said to be pursuing former USC WR Gary Bryant. He's a speed burner and former top recruit from SoCal who the Ducks were said to be among his final suitors. He redshirted last year and has 2 years of eligibility remaining. However, that his first two lined up visits are TAMU & Miami who happen to be two of the highest paying NIL schools, might speak to his priorities.

The up and down basketball team beat Arizona 87-68. They might get more consistent now as everybody who was injured is back. They still aren't very good without Richardson on the floor though. Couisnard, who I thought wasn't much of a shooter, scored 27, with 6 for 9 from three. Dante had a great game with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.

Chris Hampton, Tulane’s D coordinator is reportedly taking job as a position coach at Oregon

Probably secondary coach.

Lanning is bound and determined to get this secondary right
