I really hope Stotts uses him the right way.

And on another note if we have any more stretches in the game this year with single digit or lower scoring quarters then that is so 100% on Stotts. With the addition of offensive players like Hood and Kanter then he needs to be quicker on the subs when we fall into scoring droughts. Stotts is running out of excuses very quickly ...

Well we're dead before we start. :grim:

So the people that don't like this deal....why?
It's not that I don't like it - Kanter is now our 2nd/3rd best bench player (behind Jake & maybe Hood). I just don't really get the point. We should be trying to develop Collins. And Meyers is FINALLY playing semi-decently. I suppose we were paying tax anyway, so what's another $1m (or whatever the cost is) if it doesn't have any impact on potential repeater status?

Just seems like a pointless gesture to say "I'm trying, Jennifer!". Maybe Kanter is the difference between one or two PO wins? So the range of value added is somewhere between (1) not getting swept in the 1st round, and (2) maybe making the 2nd round. Call me crazy, but I'd prefer to develop Collins. Buuuuut, I suppose that's asking WAY too much considering Terry is our coach.

TLDR: No problem with Kanter, just don't understand what the team is trying to do.

This deserves its own thread - how did this happen?

This is where Nurk should've gotten a few plays ran through him on the block.

Kanter would be a possible answer here just to get a few quick points to end the drought and help swing the momentum.

Aminu/Harkless as the starting forwards don't help much either. Both are absolute liabilities on the offensive end. This, at the very least, is 100% on Olshey.

Good call Fez. This was in the 9 point quarter thread

You think they haven't? The game is too fast for Collins and I'm losing hope that is slows down for him.

The leftover that Neil’s been waiting for. I mean Neil’s nick name is officially the “Cat Fish”

I have a serious question, and I know I'm going to receive a lot of heat for asking it, but how do Harkless / Aminu compare to other to other teams starting forwards? I feel like they have to be among the worst. Probably bottom 3rd of the league? Why are the Blazers so married to starting those guys together. I'm at a stage where I just don't get it... I understand you're saying that this is what "Stotts" will do, but I just find it frustrating.
You're not alone.

I've always figured he starts them for their defense, since the other three are our primary scorers.

He's completely dead to me if he wears 00......so are the Blazers for allowing it
I don't think Duckworth was so valuable to the franchise that his 00 should be off-limits to another (arguably superior) player. I mean, if Meyers wearing Sabas' 11 didn't make the franchise "dead to you", why should Kanter wearing 00 have that effect?

I think this probably means they are waiting until next year to truly throw Collins into the fire. My guess is that Aminu will be gone and Collins can compete for the starting PF spot. It looks like they decided to go for down the stretch instead of worrying about development.

Bingo. I was actually going to say I doubt Aminu is on the team next season.

you lost me at "arguably superior".

In terms of all the players on the buyout market he is is best player of them all and it's not even close cause most of the other buyout players are guys who prolly only have a couple more years in the league for most part. Does he have his warts sure he does ( defense not good ) specially this year where he is ranked as worst defensive center. However maybe getting out of NY and all the media coverage of his issue with his home country will revitalize him into the borderline all star he can play like at times.

Also if anyone comes on and says he will take away minutes from Myers and this being a bad thing and i did see this on the Kanter article on B-Edge just don't. Only way a person could say this is if they are friends with Myers in real life or something like that cause he is just bad and lost on the court.
Ripcity4life77, you need to go back and watch the UTA game again where Meyers is excellent in scoring 4 of 5 swish3s, 6 of 7 FG, and earning a remarkable ORtg of 226 while embarassing Rudy Gobert. Meyers has the record 76.7% for shooting in the playoffs (minimum of 10 swish3s made), is among the leaders for 3P%, FG%, TS%, eFG%, and is getting open shots for Dame, CJ, Jake, Seth, Zach, and others. You are just disrespectful in your condemnation of an excellent Blazer.

Feel like this is pretty wack. The reason why we shipped Ed Davis was to give ZC minutes, but even then it seems like we didn't give Zach a fair shot at it.

What's the difference Ed and Kanter? No doubt Kanter produces, but the same offensive and defensive liabilities we held against Ed are the same one Kanter possesses.

I take it we get more W's but it doesn't change the playoff picture.
Love Ed. But there is a huge difference.

Kanter is one of the most skilled bigs in the NBA offensively. Yes, in the entire NBA. I feel like people don’t realize this. Sadly, he’s just as bad defensively as he is skilled offensively. He honestly one of the most fascinating players I’ve seen in this era. Especially in the playoffs. Can collapse an entire defense when he has the ball, but can also destroy an entire defense when your opponent has it.

For a couple of years in OKC he was literally unguardable. It will be interesting to see if he plays down the stretch at all in close games.

Just maybe having another dependable big man will allow Stotts to play Nurk and Collins together, or at the very least give it a legit sample size. There will be a lot less worry about Nurk and Collins getting in foul trouble now.

Or Aldridge wearing Rick Adelman's number 12...the outrage!

It’ll be real interesting to see if Stotts ever pairs Nurk and Kanter. Against teams that don’t have an offensively involved four, it may be worth trying. The mismatches offensively would be so fun and we’d dominate the boards.

i hope Stotts doesnt poison another big by making him shoot 3's....
