A common theme on Twitter when other fanbases look at Neil’s moves.

Find a worse GM that’s still employed :bored:

I was the told the offseason is long, but let's be honest, the offseason is over. Resigning Norm and adding Cody Zeller, Ben Mclemore and Snell are our moves and it’s depressing af

It will be really depressing if we don't see a big made move with CJ plus other assets for a forward that makes sense with the rest of this roster. I'll agree with that. The Norm deal is a really good one and if we end up tearing the whole thing down, he'll have great value going out in a trade.

I really don't understand why people aren't holding the ownership responsible for this though. They employ this dumbass.
I think the idea that we'd all love other ownership is a given and they also seem like they're out of reach. That being said... obviously we are pissed at ownership for continuing to let this condescending used car salesman run this team, since most of us have been posting that we want him fired for five years now.

Exactly same with those that support Olshey but blaming Stotts. Olshey employed this dumbass. I don't get it.

Yeah, anyone that likes this ownership group is crazy... they don't seem to give a single shit about what goes on with this team as long as the valuation keeps going up and the profits are there or the losses get them a tax break... even if the losses were less (and they obviously are) than the gains made in the ever increasing valuation. So it would be fantastic to have an owner that loves the city and has a passion for basketball. All of us actually giving the situation some thought are hoping for that.

With that said, sales can take a long time and this is an asset for the Paul Allen trust that just keeps increasing in value. So my hope is that they fire Neil soon even if they don't sell the team to someone who gives a damn and they fire him because they realize how embarrassing Neil's attitude and inability to make meaningful changes are to them and Paul's legacy as owners of two pro sports teams and tens of billions in other endeavors.

WW’s “Best Free Speaker” in 2001 Was Kicked Out of the Rose Garden for Demanding the GM’s Trade
“I wish everyone could experience this.”

Neil Olshey isn’t the first general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers to be the object of public scorn. In 2001, civic ire was directed at “Trader Bob” Whitsitt, who constructed a roster as well known for felony charges as slam dunks. WW’s July 18, 2001, “Best of Portland” issue featured a prominent critic of Whitsitt........

.....
This year’s Best of Portland cover person, Katherine Topaz, launched the shot heard round the Rose Garden during the NBA playoffs on April 29, when she and her boyfriend’s son, Will, refused to surrender a hand-painted sign urging the Portland Trail Blazers’ organization to “TRADE WHITSITT.”

The story took off quicker than Alan Iverson—playing itself out across the globe in the pages of Sports Illustrated and on the air of CNN and ESPN. No fewer than eight burly security guards were sicced on the diminutive (5-foot-2) fetching (yowza on that cowboy hat and those tattoos!), 34-year-old graphic designer. A full account of this day of infamy in the life of Topaz’s beloved professional basketball team could be found at www.tradewhitsitt.com.

.....“Everything,” she explains, “just happened to be in place to turn this into the POOF! It became. I got to go along for the ride. I wish everyone could experience this.”

Best of all, exults Topaz, “they changed the policy.” So next year, if the Blazers are to be believed, Katherine and Will can return to section 107, row KK—(Trade Olshey)? sign in hand.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but has it ever been discussed in here Danny Ainge potentially replacing Olshey as PTB GM? I read that Ainge had recently visited Portland and such.

Eeeewwww. Just eeeewwwww. Ainge is so freaking overrated it’s beyond bizarre. All those years of stacking assets and he got one championship out of how many years at the helm in one of the most prestigious jobs in the NBA? And he got that ring because his good buddy (Kevin McHale) sold out the team that he was working for basically just to do Ainge a solid. And then Ainge showed little loyalty to the players who put that ring on his finger. Ainge did as much if not more running in place than Olshey. Same shit, different guy. Time for Danny to fade off into the Utah sunset……..

I totally agree.

As an aside, I've never really liked him (even as a Blazer) way back since he was that cocky little QB @ North Eugene High. I think he beat my Lakeridge team, not certain.

Gotta bring this thread back. If CJ isnt traded for someone decent by the end of this season (and really should be before training camp), then I feel Olshey is in contention for one of the most enraging GM’s of my lifetime. Bring Whtisett out of retirement. Hell make Wizenheimer or Blazerkor or a full 25% of the board the GM. Anyone is less infuriating than Olshey. This guys ego is so swollen we should be concerned about him dislodging asteroids from the asteroid belt with its sheer gravity.

...when is he going to hold the off-season presser to pat himself on the back for all his "brilliant" and "urgent" moves he made since the playoffs?! :dunno:

I'm not an Oshley fan, but I think he's probably done about as good as he can with the management restraints placed on him. Overall, I grade him a C- as a GM.
