Say the Nets come to you and offer KD for Sharpe/Simons/Hart. Would you do it?

Tough question, because I hate the prick so much. Hard to believe the Nets had 3 of my least favorite players on one team last year.

Could Dame, Gp2, Durant, Grant, and Nurk (Little, Winslow, Keon, Walker, Watford, Eubanks) win a championship? I think they would need to keep one of those 3 traded guards in order to do so.

It's the only deal that really works financially. Well, I suppose you can replace Hart with Grant or Nurk, but both of those guys are more needed in the short term if you're bringing KD back.

Love the energy from the team since last year's trade. KD, Nurk, and Grant would be a long front line, but would they bring the energy along with Dame? I look at the Lakers and the Nets and I wonder why they didn't work. Is one older vet like Phoenix has .....a good recipe? But not more than one? I would be leery of doing that trade. I would do Grant, Ant, and filler (i.e Brown, Walker Keon, protected 1st) )

How likely is it that KD demands a trade during the season? If not KD, how likely is it a star that we would want will be made available for trade? My guess would be not likely at all.

So in the meantime, let the draft go by so we can trade our picks again. Any trade should be a rotational addition like adding another C. Or trading Hart to get into the 1st round this year.
Minor changes like that.

Who are stars you would consider trading Nurk + Ant + salaries + 1sts for that has any real possibility of being available? Mine are:

Bam if Heat rebuild
Embiid if he asks out
PG if Clips lose all hope on the PG/Kawhi pairing
KD if/when he asks out

The list pretty much stops there for me. I don’t think Brown, Siakam will be available. Any guard wouldn’t make sense.

PG for Ant + Nurk + fillers + 1sts ? Fuck no.

Hell no to Simmons. Maybe if we could've used Bledose salary to match in the summer and we weren't hard capped. But now Simmons isn't worth the contracts alone of who we'd have to give up. He looks like a totally broken player. I somewhat questioned how legit all the mental health leave from Philly was, but either he did have major issues that are unresolved and possibly never will be resolved; or it became a self fulfilling prophecy. I'd sign him for the vet minimum or a portion of the MLE. But he's nowhere close to worth that huge max contract which requires sending out a lot of assets in a trade.

Lean no on a Durant deal. With his salary well above even Simmons it would have to be for 2-3 starters and a bunch of picks/youth. We'd lose our youth, depth, defensive energy, and future assets. Just not worth it for a 34 year old on the decline who would have questions if he'd be unhappy again on the 4th team that Dame leads. The market for KD won't be low enough to be a bargain on his value as there will be teams willing to fork over good assets. Maybe there was a path to do this in the summer, similar to Simmons, with Bledsoe salary and where we could've replaced outgoing starters. Now it's just not feasible during the season in a way where we could contend.

I'm not against exploring trade ideas though; I'd say Ant and or Nurk could be considered when available to trade January 15th. Ant is underutilized sharing a similar role with Dame and his offense isn't as critical with the production from Dame/Grant/Sharpe/bench. Nurk is overpaid, and not as mobile as would be ideal defensively, blows many easy looks inside, and has injury concerns. Maybe the Blazers keep both Ant and Nurk though, I'm fine exploring ideas for upgrades or fine standing pat and evaluating more in the offseason. There won't be hard cap restrictions to navigate in the offseason as well as potential to add more role players.

Count me in as a fan who wants players ......that want to be here. I'll take that any day over whoring out for a Title. JMO......

I don't see the first three have any realistic chance of being available. Nets I could see exploring KD trades. There is a few problems though with Portland, first Nurk and Simons aren't enough salary. So it would have to include GP2 or Hart. Lets say Blazer could do GP2 as well as picks.

Dame - Keon
Hart - Sharpe
Grant - Little
Durant - Watford
Eubanks - Winslow

Yes Claxton might be available; but then the Blazers have to throw in both Hart and GP2. Along with Simons losing 3 guards leaves the Blazers crazy thin in the backcourt so that probably doesn't make sense. Portland could probably get a few buy out centers to assist Eubanks or flip a second round pick(s) for one instead of Claxton.

How many picks would the Nets insist on? Probably a boat load. Blazers could trade up to three swaps and 3 picks. So unprotected swaps in 2024 2026 2028 and unprotected picks in 2025*, 2027*, 2029.

Actually typing this out the possibility seems more realistic than I expected. So maybe there is a small chance the teams could explore something such as this. I kind of hate the idea of losing a 23 year old Simons as well as future picks that could become high in the lottery as Dame/Durant age. But the Dame/Grant/Durant core along with keeping Sharpe is very enticing; no team is adding Durant without giving up some assets of real value.

Actually this also aligns exactly with Durants history;

Leaves OKC and joins up with a team that already has the best record in the NBA history in GS
Leaves GS and pushes Harden to demand trade to Brooklyn so his team has the Vegas projected best record in the NBA.
Demands trade to team that already has the best record in the NBA (Phoenix)
Demands trade with second acceptable team already having the best record in the East (Miami)
Gets traded to the Blazers when they already have the best record in the West?

I thought SGA was good, but not THIS good... He's also really picked up his defense, and he gets 2.6 steals per 48, and 1.9 blocks per 48. Guess my trade idea is moot, as there's no way OKC trades him now (unless Presti is desperate for a real shot at Wembanyama)...

Problem is if the Blazers don't keep up with the best record in the west, Durant probably won't want to come here. Based on his history; he likely only will want to go to the team with the best record in the conference or ideally the entire NBA.

If the Blazers have the best record in the west or NBA do they really want to do a trade to shake up the starting lineup and mortgage away the future?

He certainly looks like the real deal. I'm a fan. I want to see what are own Canadian wunderkind becomes here though.
