I've always felt that was the most likely outcome because I'm almost positive that is what Olshey has wanted to do and Seattle is letting Olshey continue to do Olshey things. Olshey wasn't just covering his ass when he said the roster wasn't to blame. I think he actually believes that delusional bullshit

Well he's finally on board with trading CJ. But it doesn't sound like he truly understands CJ value and won't attach assets/picks in a deal. Thus nothing can be done. Nothing we can do at this moment except hope he realizes it eventually. Or Dame asks out...

problem is, from my perspective, we don't know if he's really on board for trading CJ or not. He could be making offers he knows the other team won't accept...just like Morey is reportedly doing. That way, he can say. 'hey, I tried' even though he really didn't

Yeah, that's my point. If you offer CJ straight up for Siakam or Simmons then of course the other team says no. But Olshey clearly overvalues CJ. In the past he would probably not even have done a straight up deal for either of those two players. So he took one small step even though he needs to take a plunge.

I've said this entire off-season that we need to swing for the fences. Trade CJ plus as many future assets and current young assets as possible to really improve the team. Unprotected picks are valuable according to history. Unfortunately Olshey still seems to think he can salvage this situation without having to push all our chips in.:beatinto::beatinto::beatinto: :beatinto:

Fischer just said that the overwhelming sense is that Norman Powell is going back to the Blazers on a "lucrative" contract, possibly a 3 year structure. And the reason we don't hear Portland's name involved in many rumors is because they don't have much flexibility. That seems to make sense.
Neil is going to pay him close to $30m year

That would be a huge L. Even 25 would be a huge L. He won't even be a trade asset at that price as he is not worth that much.
Jrue Holiday and Nikola Vučević make 26 MIL a year and have been traded multiple times. I don't think Powell gets 25 but I could see 22 easily.

He could be in year 3 for an overpriced star who wants out.

If it's between paying him 25/yr and losing him for nothing...you are saying let him walk?
I mean most think he is worth 20 per year. 25 is high but I think the smart move would be to keep him.

Those players are clearly better than Powell.

No i m not saying let him walk, i m saying his contract would be terrible if Olshey does that. He better manages to convince him to stay with less, but that would include a promise to be the starting SG. I could see Powell sign for even less than he might get from NY for example. But to play the 3 it shouldn't be appealing at all for him. He cannot really be good there so probably he will ask more money. That's how i see it.

There goes my pipedream of ibaka. He opted in and will be in LA

Justise Winslow is gonna hit free agency. That has Olshey written all over it. Good defender too. Just gotta use him as a ballhandler.

Listening to Fischer on this podcast. Blazer bits:

Thinks there is still a chance Dame asks out when he comes back from Tokyo if the roster is still the same. Morey will not trade Simmons until he has some clarity on the Dame situation after he comes back from Tokyo.

The CJ/Siakam thing didn't have serious traction, but notes that these frameworks are usually discussed multiple times before (if they) get done. Mentions the Kemba/Horford framework as something that was probably discussed by Boston and OKC at the trade deadline before finally getting consummated in the off-season. So if there is some level of mutual interest there it could be something that could be picked up and talked about at a later time. But looks like no real momentum at the current time.

Usually rumors get out there (other team releases details) if your heavily shopping a player. My feeling is Billups wants a shot with this group and Neil loves the thought of that

Guy I would like to see us get is Noel as backup, athletic big that blocks shots and can switch on defense. Obviously not in trade for CJ just as a roster move to strengthen the bench

If Neil runs it back he needs to be fired immediately.
If Neil runs it back, I think Dame will demand a trade in time for the deadline and then, after he trades Dame, Neil should be fired. I know we wouldn't like Neil to handle the Dame trade but I feel like the team has a deal with Dame and if that deal is that they'll trade him at the deadline if he wants... and right now the Vulcans seem to still be behind Neil. Neil would have to be the one executing the trade in order to keep the deal with Dame. Just guessing on all of that but I do wish Neil was fired when LMA walked and every day since then.

I do think Neil has to be fired if Norm walks.

Yeah me too, but we are not alone in liking him. He will get more than what we can offer.

I think there is a chance they will offer Dame part ownership if he retires as a Blazer.
Technically there is a chance either could happen.

I don't think we should be counting on some handshake agreement that can't even be consummated until Dame is retired some 7 or 8 years later.

Of course not, considering I made it up. Similar to what Fischers did when he made his comment. I mean sure technically there is a chance Dame could ask for a trade when he comes back, but it is very unlikely........much like my comment.

The Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Sacramento Kings are all expected to pursue Nerlens Noel in free agency, league sources told HoopsHype.

Toronto has several centers on their free agency radar, including Jarrett Allen, Richaun Holmes, and Noel. Aron Baynes’ $7.35 million salary is non-guaranteed for next season, as noted on our Raptors salary page, and Khem Birch is also an unrestricted free agent.

Noel helped anchor a Knicks defense that ranked 13th in opponent rim field goal percentage last season (63.2 percent) to the best in the league this year (60.5 percent). The Knicks also had a 25-16 record when Noel started and 16-15 when he did not. New York exercised its $1.8 million team option on Mitchell Robinson. Given how the tandem of Robinson and Noel worked effectively last season, there’s interest in re-signing Noel from New York.

Should Nerlens join the Pistons, he’d be reunited with former Sixers teammate Jerami Grant, one of his close friends. Following the trade of Mason Plumlee to the Hornets, the Pistons will look to the market for a replacement.

Sacramento’s interest in Noel will be affected by what happens with their own free-agent center, Richaun Holmes, as previously noted on the HoopsHype podcast.

I think you can cross Noel off the list. Reading between the lines but all those 4 teams that are interested in Noel have capspace. That makes me believe his market is higher than the 5.7 million TPMLE we could offer him.

I want a tall wing. Every successful team is big and long and athletic. Yet we throw out three guard lineups like theyre going out of fashion.

Justise Winslow coming soon aka budget Ben Simmons

I think successful depends on more than just having tall wings; those guys need to be 2-way players as well. Need to be effective on both ends of the floor. Can't be 3-0n-5 on defense or 4-on-5 on offense

Would be a awful if it was the full TPMLE.

I recall last year, the Blazers just offered the full MLE to a handful of players and chose the player that committed first. :beatinto:

What an awful way to do things. Hopefully that doesn't happen again this year.
