Honestly, I hope they re-sign Kanter for ~5 million to use as a salary filler in the season. Who gives a shit if you're going deep into the tax anyways. Plus as a 3rd stringer, he's awesome.

Won't happen, but still...

DeRozan on a 15 mil deal and Norm on a 18 mil deal would both be tradeable, not to mention Roco/Nurk on 12 mil expirings.

I mean you have to be wary of the hard cap when making deals. For example a CJ for Simmons deal wouldn't work because you would go over the apron, since we would be taking on $6 million in that deal.

We'd only be able to make trades that are exactly salary matching or taking in less salary.

what Portland trade assets, that beat other team's assets, do you see Portland having if CJ is essentially off the table?

and I'm sorry, I will not get on board this "trust that Olshey will make a bigger trade in his 10th season than he has in the previous 9" narrative that seems to be taking root around here
I'm with you one hundred percent but let's hope that CJ is completely on the table, then we have all of our draft picks, then we have DJJ both his potential value as a player to GMs who think we've just misused him and his expiring contract, then we have Ant and Nas who are both still very promising young players.

There are assets. To think that Neil will use them to make his first blockbuster trade as our GM after he hasn't come close to a blockbuster anything in nine years... that's an entirely different issue and a paradox.

If Drummond took the vet min, I’d be pretty sure Zeller is also a vet min. The market for centers is no bueno.

I think the Millsap thing is real. We can offer him a real role.

If Zeller's just a vet min, and if SA wanted DJJ, we could theoretically S&T for DD for close to $15M and still be under the hard cap.

They won't, but they could.

was curious so I went to BB Insiders for the Blazer numbers:

Damian Lillard $39,344,900
CJ McCollum $30,864,198
Robert Covington $12,975,471
Jusuf Nurkic $12,000,000
Norman Powell 16M (est)
Derrick Jones $9,720,900
Anfernee Simons $3,938,818
Andrew Nicholson (W) $2,844,429
Nassir Little $2,316,240
CJ Elleby $1,517,981

Cody Zeller 5M (est)
Ben McLemore 1.7M (est)

that's about 138.2M for 11 players. Probably no difference between signing Brown and accruing a roster charge of about 900K. So then about 139M for 12 players with the apron being around 143M. Blazers will need 14 players. Another vet minimum would bump Portland up to about 2M below the apron. Couldn't really do a trade for a S&T for more than the Jones contract and still have margin for some in-season maneuvering

obviously, there could be some extra margin there in the Zeller contract and Powell's 1st season

Lowest for Powell is 15.5, and he’s assuming Zeller is the min.

Neil is very high on CJ still. It would have to be a slam dunk deal for them to move him.

It would have to be an absolute obvious upgrade to break up the Dame-CJ duo.
I hope Neil understands it would take more than CJ to get an upgrade. But the more I hear, the more I doubt his competence.

Now the Warriors are going after Ingles in a trade, fuck off Neil.
They may be going after him, but it don't mean they will get him. How do you know the Blazers aren't talking to GM's around the league right this minute. Man! i almost wish the Blazers would hire a spin doctor to put bogus trade runs out there to appease you & others. Like Blazers making a run at Ingram, Or Blazers hot on Simmons heels. How 'bout Blazers looking to trade for Bam.

lol...it's the 'fuck-it-I-give-up' mode when we've gone from talking about Ben Simmons or Pascal Siakam to talking about 36 year old Millsap

eventually, Olshey will kill all hope....prince of darkness

Pretty sure that signing a vet’s min backup PF doesn’t negate the ability to do a trade for a starting PF if the opportunity arises.

speaking of spin doctors...how much is Olshey paying you?

all in good fun mate

Depends on if Zeller is a vet min or the TPMLE. Would have been great if someone had access to and asked the best source outside of Woj/Shams.....
Wouldn't the best source be Neil Olshey? Why has no reporter asked? Is it because no one has access to him unless he decides to give a presser?

If we landed DD for DJJ/Picks and somehow convinced CJ to be Super Bench Scorer I’d stomach it. I know his salary makes it asinine but I think that team would be better.

Dame/Ant
Norm/CJ
Derozan/Nas
RoCo
Nurk/Zeller

Size in frontcourt and a backup PG still needed.

The center market sucks:

Zeller/Drummond got min.

Theis got 9M which is lower than he's worth IMO.

Holmes went for 14M which is also lower than he could have gotten.

A CJ for Siakam trade is sitting right there to balance that.

Dame / Simons
Norm / McLemore
DD / Little
Siakam / ?Millsap?
Nurk / Zeller

Jesus, so much skill and versatility.

It's so freaking obvious. Now we need to convince Olshey that that's a good exchange, and need to find a 3rd team to send CJ to (NO struck out on everyone, and need a lead guard in the worst way).

has it been confirmed that Zeller got the minimum?

and yeah, the era of C's appears to be long dead
