Good hustle, works hard on defence, can rebound a bit, but is a godawful hero-ball offensive player.Stanley Johnson. Former 8th pick that has sucked in the league.
Lol so much for that press conference. Just a fake interview with Brooke
Dennis Schroeder — one year deal, contract year and we can at least for one season end the sad experiment of Anfernee Simons getting PG minutes
I know there's no money left but Schroder will get paid and the Lakers will get something more because of it.Dennis Schroeder — one year deal, contract year and we can at least for one season end the sad experiment of Anfernee Simons getting PG minutes
Markkanen would be a great addition. Not sure why people aren’t more open to it. Shot 40% from three, 24 year old, huge dude. Would seem to be a big man for today’s NBA.

Good thinking. Marketing is what the NBA is al;l; about but I dont see Seattle/mothership marketing their Blazers much?If I ran the Blazer organization I would legit form, hire, create a group that was responsible for ‘marketing’ Portland as a FA destination. First - figure out what the real barriers are. Is it just too white? It’s the whitest in the league, but we have a lot of guys who love it and stay forever. How can we leverage Nike and adidas within the rules. What are guys saying who recruit players, cuz it ain’t working. Come up with a sales pitch or something. There has to be a better way to tackle this. Greet them at the airport with women like it’s college hoops. Who’s touring these guys around, who’s showing them the city when they arrive? How do we treat them when they play here as a visitor? Turn over every rock. Or….just sit back and complain about it

jesus that was embarrassingRemember Jay Jensen holding a welcome sign in Turkish at the airport for Hedo Turkoglu?
Nah Hedo just says ball. The only places that might be less desireable for NBA players are Toronto (Hedo Turkoglu says hello) and Sacramento (probably an edge there because they are in California).
People that grew up on the East Coast sometimes don't even know what or where Portland is.
When given a choice, people like to be close to home and family if they live elsewhere. We will never compete with the LA teams, Miami, etc. They will always be more desirable.
For someone to want to play for us we need to target players from California, Utah, Arizona, Washington, Oregon, Montana, Alaska, etc. California will probably still be many peoples first choice, but we would at least have a shot with some of those guys.

Even Toronto is above Portland. Gigantic, diverse city. Drake. The only places that might be less desireable for NBA players are Toronto (Hedo Turkoglu says hello) and Sacramento (probably an edge there because they are in California).

While WE know Portland is “better” than Detroit and Cleveland or whatever, those cities are still a whole lot more diverse, and likely closer to wherever they are from unless west coast.Theres more teams that aren’t a desired free agent destination than that are. The Texas and Florida teams have a huge advantage because of the income tax thing.
The Lakers will always have it going for them. No one wanted to play for Golden State before they drafted Thompson and Curry.
I mean it’s awful, but there’s plenty of other teams in the league who deal with the same thing. Best way is attaining talent through draft and trades. Build a team that other players want to come to and be a part of a chance to win it all. Aldridge tried to do that with San Antonio and it back fired.
It doesn’t help though when you’re a small market and the last several 1st round draft picks you’ve made have been butt shitty.
Yeah that’s not the kind of marketing I’m thinking of lol.Remember Jay Jensen holding a welcome sign in Turkish at the airport for Hedo Turkoglu?
The truth is we have to build a team through the draft or trades... gambling correctly on undervalued guys is another way but mostly trades and draft. While WE know Portland is “better” than Detroit and Cleveland or whatever, those cities are still a whole lot more diverse, and likely closer to wherever they are from unless west coast.
Right and that’s got to change. Portland will never be LA- thank god, but we can’t be some podunk little town up by Canada to the rest of the countryThe truth is we have to build a team through the draft or trades... gambling correctly on undervalued guys is another way but mostly trades and draft.
The Raptors have done a great job. They won a title. They develop young guys. Those are big things.Nah Hedo just says ball.
Toronto was widely regarded by this year's lottery picks as the best destination along with GSW, FWIW. Baby steps.
