How dare Refsnyder get two hits last night. Now you sit on the bench, that'll teach you.

Tonight Tex will break out: of the Baltimore City Jail. Cracktown, fond memories of seeing the Yankees play in old Memorial Stadium in the early. Maryland is a nice State with Bmo as its A@@hole.

^^^so you're basically saying that if someone wanted to give the world an enema, Baltimore is where they'd stick the nozzle?

Yep, at the time I was stationed in DC but lived in Maryland, great place but the city of Baltimore sucked, so did the Oriole Fans Yankees and O's ran a pretty hot rivalry the so things got a bit tense at the old ball yard.

Baltimore was a shit hole- ugly, had the rundown look- it's still probably on its way to Detroitville......yeah, there was an intensity at the old Memorial *Park, the Birds & fans gave the Yanks a hard time.
The two teams had something going again in the mid 90s.

What is up with Tex, did he break a nail????????????????????????????????

I have my helmut on, get the tomatoes ready:
Arod will probably continue to be the Yanks biggest most legitimate threat at bat and put more fear in the opposition than the rest of the Yankee players- he's also the only Yankee player who would make me pause to watch before I head to the fridge. Lmao

...there are probably 3-4 Yankees I'd rather see at bat in a high leverage situation than ARod.

Tex has a knee issue. Will be sent for an MRI.

Surprised you didn't wait for the score to be tied joe before getting eovaldi. If he had a no hitter with 40 pitches thrown threw 6 he would have been out of there already. Usual clueless approach with a starter based on how the game is going

Nice going Nate: Shinola to Shit in one easy inning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

High leverage?
Okay - whatever. This group desperately needs a jump start and IMO one of the best time tested methods is having one of your power hitters begin to hit a few HRs.

This team is also having serious problems putting together a few hits w/risp.
Yanks are 12th in the league in HR - they're going to be needing ALOT of singles and doubles.
I kinda miss the lamenting over the Yanks "relying too much on the HR".

Can any middle reliever on this team ever get out of a jam? It's constantly gas on the fire.

...ARod is batting .1 fucking 82...why should he be considered the Yanx "most legitimate threat at bat"?...and why would he "put fear into the opposition"?

...that's just silly.

He puts more fear into me as do the rest of these epic failures whenever they come to bat,

Gardner, you've come a long way: down hill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...he seemed awfully ticked off that he was thrown out at 2B...also seemed kinda dumbfounded earlier in the count when he tried to steal and ARod fouled the pitch off...almost as if someone missed a sign or something.

Yeah, I know what his batting avg is.....as I said, get the tomatoes ready.
He just doesn't look like he's "washed up" and lost like Tex.....
No excuses, he's "earned" his current terrible BA, however, it looks like he's getting his timing back and getting good swings....I'm not surprised or overly worried about his strikeouts to a point, but I expect the long ball sooner than later. What the heck, jmo

We have Kirby Yates in a crucial 6th inn situation instead of Justin Wilson who was unceremoniously traded by Cashman.
One of Cashman's off season moves which has a direct effect on this team.

...the Yanx have 3 of the best relievers in the game but I'll never understand the reasoning behind assigning certain inning or situations to certain pitchers.

...when Eovaldi was pulled the Yanx still had the lead...why not bring in either Betances/Miller/Chapman to put out the fire?...if they had the Yanx may very well have won the game.

^^^^^ I agree hold heartedly. Instead of innings, they should go with matchup and line-up management. Girardi should be dictating that which would put other managers potentially in a pinch hit, chew up the bench situation. For example, I would of brought Miller in to relieve Nate, first, to stop the bleeding and try to get out of the inning with lead. I then would play natchup with Yates vs righties, and Pazos vs. lefties but not until yates gave up a baserunner. I may be then able to ride Yates through the 7th. With lead still intact. Then Betances and Chapman. If we were able to add on at 5-4, (I know don't say it) then maybe we can hold back Betances/Chapman in this scenario, assisgning innings is overuse in my opinion.

Good to see Gardy fired up, he got two hits and is feeling his oats....but I don't think Girardi would put on the hit and run with Arod up.....Girardi doesn't start the runners with anybody up.
This guy better start stealing a lot of bases and getting a lot of hits.
Came into tonights game batting .036 the past two weeks, .163 vs LHP, .135 w/risp for the season.

Maybe he'll begin to reward Girardi for sticking with him batting second.
I would've dropped his butt to the 8th spot weeks ago especially vs LHP.

Yep, just about all mgrs are slaves to the same book on relief pitchers - but when we consider Girardi has three of the more dominant (strikeout) effective late inning relievers, it isn't such an unusual or unconventional move to use one the "7th - 8th inning" guys in the 6th inn.
The other night vs Toronto he brought in Betances after a leadoff double to try and protect a 1-1 TIE GAME yet tonight he wouldn't use Betances with one out in the 6th to try and limit the damage with loaded bases and a 5-2 lead, or at least use him in the same inn to protect the 5-4 lead!
Then you can use Yates to start the 7th inn, no base runners, with a 5-2 or 5-4 lead with the rest of the pen available.

Not all are the same, but I'm convinced mgrs like Maddon, Buck and a couple more would use Betances in the 6th inning to try and put out a bases loaded fire.....against a top div rival with the team struggling for wins.
Girardi -IMO - falls into the cookie cutter category for mgrs.

--> This was a pretty "big" fucking game...., three run lead in tbe sixth inn, had a chance to cut the lead to 5.5 games.
It is what it is....I can only look at the date, and the standings.
