Exactly why we are bringing Melo.....to help with the lack of talent right?Actually we lack talent. That’s the exact problem.

Pop is a horrible coach. No good leader would all his team to lose to this depleated Blazers squad. Certainly all the Stotts haters would agree with this logic?
I for one think Pop is a fantastic coach depsite the Spurs record and poor showing last night.
Interesting that you "joined" the forum 3 weeks after Aminu signed but know all about people's reactions.Err I’m not sure he did, at least not by the people who are posting currently. The consensus about his signing with the magic seemed overwhelmingly positive when I was talking about it 2 months ago.

Would you pay Aminu nearly $10 million a year plus tax?
In the playoffs Hood and Collins vastly outperformed Aminu and Harkless. Those two were almost unplayable against Denver and GS yet they still started every game. That makes your stat of 70% of the minutes lost from their starters very skewed.
They're gonna be good this year.
It's been said the money was important. Remember one thing about Aminu. They call him Chief for a reason. His name translates in Nigeria to "The Chief Has Arrived" and he is a Prince.
Which “effort players” are you talking about? ET, Meyers, and Aminu were most hated players on team. Hood took Mo’s minutes.Nasr Little already contributing. Neil OShay made mistakes getting rid of his effort players ... trying to go finesses ...
Talking about a stupid GM.
Now he signs another no-defense player. Insanity is really going on at this club. Stott should fired 3 year ago in favor of one who emphasizes defense.
We ain't making the playoffs... you heard it here first.
Well hey, we got Carmelo out of that mess too! So we've got that going for us. I hope.... LolI think you can make that assessment. Good players used properly are still good when traded, bad players are still bad. There can be exceptions and variation, esp for a niche player like Aminu, but in general it averages out. But we'll see. If we even come close to making the playoffs (say 45 games), then I'll admit I was wrong.
I disagree that you could not continue to play Aminu & Harkless. Little scored 5 points yesterday. Yet do we win that game without his defense & energy? I don't think so. Aminu & Harkless played a similar role on the Blazers. I think they were sorely underrated. We didn't need them to create shots with Nurk, Dame, CJ on the floor, and they were good enough from 3 and around the rim to represent a threat.
I agree with getting rid of Turner. If all we lost was Curry, that could be offset by Simons. But Kanter, Leonard, Aminu, Harkless, and throw in Layman basically for Whiteside + unkown Pau is a big loss, even though I like Whiteside as a player.
Yep. About 16-17 games in, Memphis had best record in West. Rockets were 14th in West. They were 11-14 at one point. Jazz were terrible as they had mostly road games and couldn’t win at home.I just dont get this mentality. Its NOVEMBER, and you’ve already decided they cant make the playoffs? Whiteside missed a bunch of camp with ankle injuries, Pau’s out. Zach out, Nurks out, a ton of new faces, and injuries getting guys in out of the line up. A hard schedule they havent even had a “home stand” yet. They still have Dame, its started rough for them before and theyve figured it out. Just seems like giving up on the season is way premature.
Last year about this time Memphis was near the top of the conference. They’re 13 games into the season? 5.5 GB from 1st I think they have time to make up some games...
I have only one thing to say about that... “Gunga galunga”Well hey, we got Carmelo out of that mess too! So we've got that going for us. I hope.... Lol
Can I quote you on that one month from now?Exactly why we are bringing Melo.....to help with the lack of talent right?
I’m against playing any of them. I don’t think Melo is any good any more.Hmmm, you hate playing Tolliver and Hezonja but are also against Melo. So they needed a change but you're mad about it?
And that's where that came from.... LolI have only one thing to say about that... “Gunga galunga”
What? That he is more talented than the guys getting minutes for us right now? Hell yes. Like I've said to you 20 times in the last 48 hours. He's better than what we've been rolling out since Collins went down. Can't argue that. He could average 8 points on 30% shooting and he helps us on the floor more than the other guys. Can I quote you on that one month from now?

You’re setting the bar so low he can’t fail. Our G Leaguers could do that and play defense to boot. What? That he is more talented than the guys getting minutes for us right now? Hell yes. Last year's team wasn't missing their starting center or power forward at this point in the season and hadn't acquired Hood or Kanter yet.No doubt good teams can start 4 and 8. If last year’s Blazers did that I wouldn’t be worried. That’s not what we’re seeing here.
Right, so starting 4 and 8 would be an aberration for last year’s team but not for this team. Which is why I believe we have virtually no chance to make the playoffs and why I’d stop worrying about our WL record this year and play young guys Trent, Simons, Little a lot and see what our G Leaguers can do instead of playing Hezonja at all or getting Melo.Last year's team wasn't missing their starting center or power forward at this point in the season and hadn't acquired Hood or Kanter yet.
So...
I call bullshit. We got swept in the 1st round the season before by the Pelicans. If we then started off 4-8 then you along with everyone else wouldn't have thought that team was going anywhere.Right, so starting 4 and 8 would be an aberration for last year’s team but not for this team. My point wasnt so much that I think you’re wrong. If you want to present it as, well the analytics make it look like making the playoffs is going to be tough. Ok I wouldnt question it, as much. IMO opinion you presented it as, well theyve got 0 chance, cancel the season. Its not about telling you how to talk, or how to form your arguments or whatever, I just dont get that mentality this early in a season, when so much basketball is left. Heck when Nurk got hurt last year I thought they may spiral out of the playoffs, bit they didnt, point is, I think its too early just quit on their chances.
I didn't say it was on Mario. But i did say the reason was because they were daring him to shoot the ball. If he was comfortable with a wide open shot from the free throw line he would have took it. He wasn't and he didn't. They have scouted him. That play was NOT on Mario. Literally everyone was standing around. No screens being set. No cuts being made. No one coming to the ball.
As a guy that has made many cases for Stotts i kind of feel this is not needed. The same can be thrown right back. Every Coach has a bad game and his players have to perform.Pop is a horrible coach. No good leader would all his team to lose to this depleated Blazers squad. Certainly all the Stotts haters would agree with this logic?

Not sure i like what they did either but you are right here. They most certainly did do something. They did have a plan. That's why they kept the 15th roster spot open. You may not like what they did but they did do something.
Well IMO it is pretty much zero chance, but to have the best chance we’d need a breakout season by someone. Maybe that’s Little. Or Trent. It’s not cancel the season. It’s optimize for next two or three seasons. That’s not gonna come by playing Hezonja or Melo. That’s develop your young guns.
You must really not think that highly of Dame if you think in his prime a team with at least 6 other legit NBA players have 0 chance of making the playoffs... over half the NBA makes the playoffs and yes the west is tough, but its not like he’s one of those stars that has basically no one to play with... CJ, Baze, Whiteside, Hood, Simons, at least are all legit NBA players that if they were released today would be picked up.Well IMO it is pretty much zero chance, but to have the best chance we’d need a breakout season by someone. We're obviously talking about different plays but there was very little offense being run in the 4th quarter, mostly just iso ball with players standing around. That was also the time that Little should've been in there instead of Hezonja anyway.I didn't say it was on Mario. But i did say the reason was because they were daring him to shoot the ball. If he was comfortable with a wide open shot from the free throw line he would have took it. He wasn't and he didn't. They have scouted him.
Go ahead and say it was no cutters and no screens but he was WIDE open. He didn't need a cutter or a screen to get an open look. he can't shoot and neither could Aminu which is what this conversation is about. Now that teams have his number in the Blazers offense look for this over and over again. It also happened with Turner. They will let him have that top of the key look all day long.
5 on 4 Defense! Then corral the rebound.
I call bullshit. We got swept in the 1st round the season before by the Pelicans. If we then started off 4-8 then you along with everyone else wouldn't have thought that team was going anywhere.
Complete bullshit.Blazers went to the playoffs 6 years in a row, 4 years with that core and this was by far the best incantation if that core due to Nurk. A 4 and 8 start would make me worried they wouldn’t make the playoffs because the west is tough and every win is critical. But no way would I think about that team like I think about this team - no chance to make playoffs. Analyticswise, that team is 15 to 18 wins better than this team sans Nurk & Collins. That’s what I’m going by, not their 4 and 8 start.
