No, you're not. On average, shots within 10 feet are much more efficient than shots outside of 10 feet. We shouldn't settle for going 0 for 14 on jumpers because we're scared of Aldridge and Poeltl..

Good set designs can get solid interior shots against any rim protection. And if not? Fine, at least we didn't settle for going 0 for 14 on jumpshots!
What're the percentages when being hit by two guys though, because they're were multiple occasions where they did. I'm not really making an excuse for them, they should work for good shots and when the jumpers aren't going in they need to have more action in the paint (though if it was that easy teams would just run lay up drills).

So if you're taking it inside and continuing to get hacked with no calls resulting in missed shots you should keep doing it?

They were constantly driving into two guys. I'm not advising that... I'm advising an offensive system with sets that can free guys up for quality shots inside. I see many NBA teams do it much better than us.

Franco, where have I said they should keep driving 1 on 2?

Well, unfortunately, Stott's seems to like his action's 25 feet away from the basket, for the most part, I get what you're saying, but also while they're frustrating at times, the offensive "system" is mostly fine in the regular season. I actually think Stotts is a pretty good regular season coach. It's the playoffs I get concerned about if he's a "championship" level coach.

It was nice to see CJ get a handfull of assists tonight. Mario pissed me off collapsing the defense at the rim and throwing up a clunker instead of dishing to Skal.

The system is fine during the regular season because of how talented our backcourt is, not because of Stotts. When teams gameplan hard for it in the postseason, it's much harder for us to consistently score. Then again, our backcourt is still so ridiculously talented that they can make a WCF anyway.

Regular season they do get plenty of good looks though, and I think Stotts is good at keeping guys engaged. Like even in the third some of the bricks they were throwing up were wide open. For the record no one wins in the NBA without elite talent. Pops hasn't done jack without David Robinson and Tim Duncan. In the NBA it's way more the talent you have then the coaching you have and it's like that for everyone. Coaching does make a difference but it usually comes down to who's just got the better players and often time it's really just who has the better stars.

People act like there aren't 82 games in a season, and that if you lose against a good team on a back to back on the road by 3 points, the coach must be terrible, the owner doesn't care, and all of our players suck.

Does that cover it all?

The difference between Pop and Stotts one holds his players accountable and doesn't matter who the player is and the other don't pretty simple.

The problem with pretty simple takes is that they’re usually too simple and generally wrong.

Honestly I’m not all that butthurt about the loss. The big takeaway for me was the rally back in the 4th. Those last few shots could’ve gone either way, flip a coin. SA happened to get the win but blazers took a shitty game and almost turned it around through straight up will power. Can’t complain too much about it.

To be fair he didn't say that or at least that is not what i think he meant. They were able to disrupt shots by fouling a little more than maybe they should have is what i understood him to mean? The Blazers would not be scared of aldridge and Poeltl but the calls were definitely not happening when Dame and CJ were driving.

Maybe, but it doesnt really relate to my overall point.

Between CJ and Dame they took 48 shots and Dame was 1-7 in the first half then 2nd half he took 21 shots. That a lot of shots but you know that tells me that there not a lot involvement with the other players. Dame gets majority of he assist in the 1st half he don't get many in 2 half why is that I will tell you due to fact he actually trying get everyone involved in the 1st half not so much in the 2 half.

True.
Stotts/Blazers need to get the offense working better and they have the players to get these kinds of things going. Your points on downhill drives to the basket and hammering inside are correct IMO. Every team goes through slumps shooting. They need to respond better. Giving credit though would be that they continued to work hard last night and they did get the game close with a chance at the end. Would have loved to see a win. Regroup and work on the problems. Get them next time!

I've yet to see a game thread that doesn't turn into a whine and bitch fest at some time during the game. I do agree they are rather hilarious as well as should be embarrassing to some.

How's your daughter's high school team doing this year?

I watch most the game on replay, so usually if we win I read the game thread, and if we lose I stay away from the whole forum most of the time

Yes but at the same time you’re more likely to make a jumper than a shot going to the basket with LMA and Poetl both hitting arms and body. I get your point, when the Jumpers arent falling you to go towards the rim. I think thats where they really miss Nurk offensively, I also think they missed Zach down in there offensively too. He isnt the strongest guy but he’s got great footwork on post moves. I realize post ups aren’t neccesarily going towards the rim, but its still playing inside out. I thought they’d post Rodney more.
Poeltl played 12 minutes. That's not it.

Careful....
The double standard is the problem, not the criticism. When someone is critical of a player or coach and you respond with something along the lines of "calm down" or "it's a long season" or "give them some time" and then a few minutes later you are criticizing a player you can't see the irony there?
