I don’t think it’s a zone, I’m gonna say Layman is just really good and getting better. He just hasn’t been giving the playing time necessary to really show his game, that better change, he’s got the highest ceiling of any 3 on our team imo.

Guys it's proven science because of coin flips that the zone doesn't exist. What we witnessed had nothing to do with the mythical zone.
There was definitely a few minutes where it was pretty clear he was really going, you could tell everyone out there even the pelicans knew it too. I understand the "math" behind the guy's argument about percentages and the next shot attempt, but still it was pretty obvious he was "feelin' it" and I think almost everyone who's played a sport knows when a guy has it going like that, it doesn't happen super often, but it does happen.

We're giving them layups because we can't wait to give the ball back to Jake.

there's that supposedly true story about Don Coryell, coach of the San Diego Chargers who was an offensive 'genius', getting frustrated in a game because the defense kept giving up 1st downs on a long drive...he screamed at his defensive coordinator "just let them fucking score so we can get the ball!"

Fuck that guy, I read his post and clearly he has never played a sport in his life. So no way for him to know what zone is.

Wrong, science!

Yep. Loudest this arena has been.
I dunno I think people forget game 1 vs the Lakers when Steaksuace was losing his mind, that was pretty incredible too. Especially because of how much we hate the Lakers. Only problem was there were way too many Laker fans in the arena.

I wish I could thank those Maryland graduates who told me that Jake was better than Diamond Stone and Turgeon's other players. Damn if they weren't right.

It's a fact that when guys get in a zone they often times will miss a really hard heat check against a defense that's loading up in them. But without context, they missed, so they werent in a zone! Smh haha

Exactly. Too many Laker fans at that game. This has been best crowd response (and unity) of the year.

Honestly the shot he missed you could tell that it was already kind of gone, he was obviously tired and just throwing up the "heat check" type of shot. The two shots before that, that was the zone in my opinion.

I made a thread last summer expressing disbelief that Jake the Snake was still a Blazer.

Happy to eat a plate of crow and admit that I was really wrong.
At the end of last season I didn’t care if we kept him on the roster or not. I certainly didn’t see this development coming from him. Now I’d want really good value for him in any trade. If he keeps developing this way he could be anything.

How long does it take the Blazers coaching staff to build an impact player?....2 years....(Meyers excluded due to repeated recalls and repairs)

Almost a direct quote of a post I had a year ago. The skills are there...just needs to be developed and get some confidence.
