Great call by Stotts? He only took out CJ because he couldn't guard a chair and kept fouling everyone. When he got to 5 with 7+ minutes left, he basically had no choice. If CJ isn't hacking everyone in site, Trent wouldn't have seen the floor in that crucial stretch.
You're just mad cos he didn't play Gabriel!
And somehow they still won.
Relax, Wenlen (is that his name?) will soon save our season...

True.....and even as hot as Trent was, I see why people would think he might put CJ back in. Because he is Stotts.

Trent told stotts to rip up his fucking 3x5 card. Forced him to stay with Trent. Man stotts is a bad coach.

A couple of CJ's fouls were clean swipes at the ball, great defensive plays. He got screwed by the refs. It was clear on replay.

Good win! I was doubtful for a bit there. Gotta say....glad we kept Whiteside!

Gary Trent Jr!!! This guy can shoot and he plays decent defense!

I googled "most clutch player in NBA history" and got a ranking : "Based on a combination of factors that include clutch field-goal percentage, postseason metrics and career achievements, these players were at the front of the clutch gene line." Melo not in top 25. https://www.stadiumtalk.com/s/most-clutch-nba-players-5e9a098a94e94175
What do career achievements have to do with the ability to hit a shot in a close game? Kobe won 5 titles but he was NOT clutch. Yes, Mike is more clutch in playoffs. But Melo is by far most clutch regular season player. Your link is holding it against Melo that he hasn't won a championship.

* Trent sure has been in a nice zone lately; 11pts a game and 41% on three's over last 10. Unlike Crabbe, Trent can play some decent defense. He's playing the way Olshey suggested Simons was going to play. If Trent could develop a little dribble-drive game and get to the FT line, he'd be really effective. Now, watch Brooklyn offer him a 4-year/100M deal when he's RFA

* every once in a while, Dame has a bad-ball-security-brain-fart game. Usually Portland loses those games. I guess going 9-10 on three's in the 4th Q erases a lot of fuck-ups

* the 'he-should-have-been-traded' Blazer C a lot of people have hated on had 17 pts, 23 rebs, and 4 blks. Just another night at the office

* in the last 5 games, CJ has 94 points on 92 shots....lol

My new favorite game: what other message boards are saying about their team...

"Pop ruined this game by taking a hot white out. Absolute embarrassment. Oh and another thing he literally calls 0 plays for our most athletic play (Walker). Guy is by far the worst coach in the NBA. He better retire after the year because you know spurs FO won’t fire him"

"Pop lost this game taking out DWhite for Dijon who can't run the point and can't shoot so DePression runs the point and offense stalls. From an 8-0 run to outscored by 20."

"I'm about sick of watching Pop slurp on the other team's players and looking so happy after every loss. Unless this is his farewell tour, him."

"I don't understand this team's defense.

Look, Trent Jr is hot from 3, let's leave him incredibly wide open with under 5 mins left in the game."

"Pop has gone senile"

"LMA what a complete loser of a player. When crunch time hits he’s horrible."

"It's a Dumbmar offense; what it is supposed to be."

And that was just the some of the most recent 20 posts...

cant shake how bad CJ looks right now. is his ankle still not right?

What i like about Trent JR is he doesn't seem to make a lot of dumb fouls. A lot of young guys get in trouble reaching and he does't seem to get in foul trouble.
He does seem to play the game within his abilities and uses his strengths well.

Oh so we like Trent now? He is no longer the black hole?
Hard to keep track on this board.
He's kind of earned it over the last couple weeks. 1M seems to be starting to hit some shots also.

I think it's becoming my favorite new game as well.
Quite enlightening.

Melo is most clutch player in the history of the NBA. Glad he's on our side.
Idk man, Dame is pretty clutch. 2 playoff series winning buzzer beaters? Only player in NBA history to hit two of them. I’d say dame is the most clutch player in the history of the NBA. But others might say Jordan or Kobe were.

Jordan has hit 2 also. Kobe made a lot of clutch shots because he TOOK a lot of clutch shots. Melo has shot a wayyyyy better percentage than Kobe.

The part that just makes me scratch my head is we get those kinds of posts when the team wins a game and has won 6 of the last 8.

Jordan has hit 2 also. Kobe made a lot of clutch shots because he TOOK a lot of clutch shots. Melo has shot a wayyyyy better percentage than Kobe.
Addendum: 3 pointers*

I think Stockton is the only other to hit one.

I don't recall seeing many people say that lately. Also opinions can change based on a players performances. Nothing wrong with that.

yeah a lot of people only support players when they play well.

So far I've only checked 3 message boards after our games and they were all similar complaints; so I hate to say it, but you probably shouldn't be surprised. 3 out of 3 is a small sample size, but I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of fans complain about effort, the star players, and the coaching after losses.

I'm not surprised at all. We did this many times over the last couple years. Look up threads called "The other side"
