GAME THREAD: BLAZERS @ KNICKS - FEB. 5TH, 2014, WEDNESDAY, 5:00 PM, ESPN & CSNNW

I enjoyed the streatches where they were playing decent basketball, not so much the horrible play of LA, Meyers, Mo and the long scoring droughts. It's a "win" but they played like losers. This effort would not have beaten many other teams.

They played like losers but won? How does that work?

When OKC pulls one out against a bad team with Durant hitting a late shot - are they losers?

Because the other team can play even crappier. It doesn't matter how crappy two teams are when they face each other, or how bad they play, one has to win, that's the way sports work.

Nic was closing out on the shooter so he obviously was moving toward him. The shooter is allowed his vertical plane from the floor to the ceiling. If Nic created the contact by moving forward the foul is on him. Most often than not when there is contact on a shooters arm it is the Defense's fault.

I am not bitching about the officiating, but on that play that is not what happened. I know that was the call, but Nic went straight up, not into him. It was a bad call and it is being called too often on all teams IMO

Seems to me, in that case, the winning team would have had to play like winners. You're one, or the other, that's the way sports work (except for soccer).

Batum shot 9-14, the rest of the team shot 21-65..32%

I am stunned how bad he looks, almost impossible to believe he has gotten worse but I think he has

He's simply not a professional basketball player. He should not be in this league. He better save up his money because he has no future in this sport, and no business being in our rotation. I'm starting to question Stotts' sanity.

Wright played a decent game and defended Melo really well, made a couple shots, got a steal, rebounded, Mo made some game changing shots, Nic actually played a really good game. LaMarcus about had a triple double. This was a grind it out win. Go Blazers!

Playing like a "winner" implies that you play in such a way that would normally get you a win, that was not the case tonight. It was shitty basketball on both sides, Portland just got lucky that we were playing a pathetic opponent who also had a bad game.

If you beat a grandma in a foot race by walking that doesn't make you "fast".

I am questioning my sanity as well because I am agreeing with U! lol

I really question what the coaching staff is doing with him, because the guy didn't look completely horrible last season. At this point he just looks totally useless.

agree, as I said in anotherpost he appears to have regressed which is almost impossible to believe

from another board: "he needs to start working on his foreign languages...he'll be playing in Europe soon.

too bad it won't be next season. Drafting him was a mistake...picking up his 3rd year option was compounding the mistake"

If 11-9 is our slump part of the season, we`re doing great. Did you expect us to be 41-8 (same pace we were at)?

Season's not over. We'll probably hit a worse patch than this. (Especially next month).

And no, I didn't. But I didn't expect us to look this bad in wins, either.

Allowing him to work on his three point shot was just a horrific mistake. Obviously they can't completely control what the guy does, but come on.... get him in a big man camp and work on his fucking post game. I just don't think the guy has the maturity to be successful at this level right now. Until he matures mentally, I don't see him maturing on the court.

Look bad? It was some of the best D we've played all season. And when the game was on the line, our MVP candidate delivered. On the road. On national TV. Against a desperate team led by the most recent player of the month. Every game can't be a raining threes blowout against the Bobcats. And btw, that Bobcat team just blew out the Warriors. We're doing great.

ANd the Warriors kicked our ass last time... so? lol.

We just need some changes. This team isn't deep enough, period.

I invite people to look back at game threads from last year to see what the comments about Freeland were like. I remember a few "he'll be in Europe next year" comments, and some incredulity this summer when he was announced as a rotation player. He's not bad. Not great, but a decent 8/9th man (or 4th big, if you prefer).

I'm not saying Leonard's a lock to be a solid rotation player in 12 months, but things can change.

He still sucks and shouldn't be a rotation player. It's just every other big we have is even worse.

Passing to Freeland is like a guaranteed turnover. It's got a 70% chance of being turned over and a 25% chance of a being a horrible brick.

He's got all the physical tools, just doesn't have the right attitude. I suggest steroids. A lot of steroids.

I think Meyers needs scars, maybe a broken nose, bad haircut, and Bill Laimbeer kicking his but up and down a practice court. Lot of 7 ft guys don't see the court until year 3-4...Meyers lucked out getting minutes early in his career. I question not Meyers but the big man coaching staff. Upgrade? Elite defensive coordinator? (I say this every damned season though)

We need a trade. Desperately.

If we could get Chandler, I'd say we do it. The guy played solid defense on LA.

Just in case someone doesnt know... if you want to watch a replay of the game, you can go to watchespn.com and click the replay tab and scroll down a tad bit. All NBA games on ESPN go there... but it's only for the night.
