Gary Payton II Trade to the Warriors (2 Viewers)

Did he make any accusations or was it just the Warriors? I can see them asking him if he was taking any medications and he answered. Then the Warriors freaked out over it and started embellishing the situation.

Shams explicitly said in that Athletic article that started this whole scandal that the Blazer training staff pressure Payton into Toradol injections and concealed it from the Warriors:

I mean it's not surprising that a glorified blogger would get facts wrong, but you do have to wonder where he got the story about "shots" from

if jody gave a damn, she would be fully in her rights to sue for defamation.

this GS staff that acted so high an mighty is that same one that called Andre Iguodala's fracture a bone bruise.

this GS staff is the same one that allowed KD to play on a strained calf and tore his achilles.

this GS front office is the same one that leaked video of Draymond's punch to the media.

Buncha snakes. Hope they get dragged over this bullshit.

If I had to bet between Gary and someone else in the Warrior's organization leaking it to Shams.......my money is on the Warriors

could very well be

maybe Payton simply said he'd been given Toradol, and the Warriors assumed that was injections, went Def-Con 4, and put the Blazers on blast

So glad Shams did his "clarifying" the earlier reporting was wrong AND so nice and civilized of the Warriors to find a way to make the trade happen ... Wow! The True Princes of the NBA.

that's quite a reach

I'd think they would be worried about their business and if it came out they were lying about one of their players it would hurt their business, a lot
Same for the Blazers. It defies logic that the Blazers would lie and not disclose medical information in order to complete a trade, when the required medical exam and simply talking to Payton would uncover such a deception immediately. The accusation doesn't pass the smell test.

Agreed. If Paul Allen was still in charge, the Warriors wouldn’t try to pull this BS.

The Warriors ownership and front office have never been shy to hide their hubris. They have even flaunted and bragged about how ahead of the rest of the league they are.

This story will go from "They made me take injections" to "They gave me pills" to "I wanted Advil, but they gave me Costco ibuprofen."

Even if it is the warriors, GP is an asshole for not refuting it. Which means he wanted this too. So in my eyes it's a collaboration and they can fuck all the way off.

I don't think they freaked out. I think they were irked that Cronin insisted on all 5 2nd rounders and Knox and even though none of those assets helped them more than getting Payton back and Wiseman and Knox off their payroll their GM's feelings were hurt.

I suspect Shams picked it with Slater. Who is Slater? Why, he's the Warriors beat writer for the Athletic. Shocking, isn't it?

The only way to complete this saga is for Woj or Shams to tweet that the Warriors’ medical staff is so cutting edge that they were able to reduce GP2’s recovery time from 3 months to 2 weeks when he makes his debut after the All-Star break.

I didn't realize Golden State is such a sleezy organization. Talk about wanting to have your cake after you've eaten it. Maybe the Blazers should request an investigation into collusion/tampering between GS and Payton, which frankly seems somewhat obvious.

I wouldn't want the Blazers to do it, but I wonder if the Blazers could nix the trade. Just let GP2 waste away on the bench forever.
