Gary Payton II Trade to the Warriors

I'm sure somebody has already said this but this was a good deal. They realized the Payton signing was a mistake and not only got out from under it but got some picks also. You can't ask for more than that. If only they could have done the same with Nurk! :)
agree, Payton was a bad signing and we made the best of it, hope Warriors go out in first rd

I hated the Payton signing and knew he wouldn't matter much in Portland. I wish we'd used that signing slot to get a decent big guy, but given the error I'm glad we got something.

I think I'd rather have taken Wiseman than the picks, if he were available, but something is better than nothing.

there were countless team sponsered podcasts determined to push the narrative that Payton was going to fix the Blazers bad defense. Wait until Payton, just be patient.

Blazer fans were patient, we waited, now Payton is gone. What will the next podcasts be? Be patient Blazer fans, these bad players and 2nd rounders will help Lillard win a championship? We just need more patience?

Mfer was cleared to play for weeks but never did. Then sat out for every ticky tac shit he had.. fuck him

Huh?! How? I use to tell ya look at his body language and his excuses for never wanting to play, always laughing it up with the opposite team, he was never all in.. blazers knew it too
Damn, if you don't stop making sense I'm actually gonna have to agree with you on something......how painful.

Did we just effectively trade away all our hustle players? Too much hustle, that was our problem.

I bet this is because Chauncey started GP II yesterday. Joe trades everybody who stands in the way of Sharpe starting.

That's the only answer. how did your assumption based on literally nothing come to light?

GS traded Wiseman for Payton.

So we could've had Wiseman.

Or we could've excluded Atlanta and had Saddiq Bey.

I need to see what those 5 second round picks mean. If its 5 of the Pistons picks thats awesome. If its 5 top55 protected picks thats shit. Feel like I probably would've preferred a flyer on Bey or Wiseman.... but lets see.

Thybulle and Reddish I'm fine with acquiring, taking flyers on them, likely they walk in the summer though.

So the primary pieces acquired were the NY potential first round pick and the ~5 second rounders.

Curious to see if we sit guys with "injuries" or still try to make the playin. I'd have probably gone further and explored trades for Grant, or basically everyone but Sharpe, but whatever.

I'm sure this is very disappointing to those fans who wanted to see the team win this year. Thats clearly no longer the plan. It also questions why weren't the Blazers realistic in the summer and prioritizing longer term moves back then. But at least they didn't now give up youth or draft picks for a doomed to fail attempt to salvage as many win as they could this season.

You seem to enjoy having picks more than players. OKC is the team for you!

Honestly it's the best team for you since you never want to actually be good, just have HOPE that we will be good, then move that goalpost 3 games later... Then 3 games after that.

As a fellow lefty, OSU alum, and someone whose only basketball skill was defense, I had high hopes for GPII. That said. Good riddance.

I bet MT gets a qualifying offer. Cam is auditioning for one.

Thybulle is averaging 2.7ppg in 12mpg during his fourth NBA season. His other years have been 3.9-5.7ppg showing little improvement. If he looks great as a Blazer yes they will extend the Qualifying Offer of $6.3million; but I'd say there is a strong chance if he continues with his prior performance they don't.

Considering how frequently Portland was in the rumors for getting Thybulle - there is someone on the staff that thinks highly of him... I bet he at least get the QO.

Shouldn't believe everything you hear.

This feels like the opposite of a olshey move. He wouldn't have been able to trade someone he signed until much later.

Not sure what to make of it. Liked Payton, but he didn't really do much all year and probably didn't do himself any favors for how he took forever.

Wish him well. But the lack of height coming back signifies tankeroonie to me.

I agree.
None of these moves were olshey moves…olshey never would’ve moved GP2
He wouldn’t traded hart for Duncan Robinson and a second round pick and said we addressed shooting.
