If I could get a guide or maybe straight forward list of the topics that I'm allowed to have an opinion on, it would be much appreciated.

Circling back though, why isn't anyone concerned about trans men?

How are they supposed to be able to compete in sports? They're men, so they can't compete in women's sports, but are any of them good enough to compete in men's sports? Have there been any cases of trans men competing in high school or college sports?

I don't think anyone is talking about the actual literal ability to post our opinions.

There are certain people who bristle any time a straight cis man offers an opinion on anything that they disagree with.

So what? @crandc is allowed to express her opinions too. She isn't directly attacking anyone. You can choose to take a post on a public forum personally, or you can agree to disagree and not give it power over you.

I don't agree with everything @crandc has to say. I respect her opinion as a woman and as a member of the LGBTQ community. I get where she is coming from. I can agree with what I agree with and agree to disagree with the rest.

I think alot of us guys on here take what she says to personally.

Stop with the sarcasm. Your aren't a victim. You are allowed to have opinions here.

Who said no one is concerned about trans men?

We can look at both Trans women and men in sports. It's an interesting conversation to have.

I have heard of cases where trans men lower their testosterone and such to certain levels so they can compete with women.

She is pretty much the only person on here who will flat out say that someone's opinion doesn't matter because of their gender and their sexual preference. :dunno:

I would like to be judged on the basis of my opinions and not what gender I was born with or sexual preference. Maybe that's just me.

I don't think you get to have an opinion on whether I get to have an opinion. You are also a straight cis man.

I think in this national "conversation" on transgenderism "straight cis men's" opinions and views on this are being very well represented. They are the ones proposing multiple laws in multiple states. Laws on where transgender people can pee, if they're allowed to be talked about in schools, even if the parents of transgender children are committing child abuse.

I fully admit I know very little about transgenderism. Currently, my stepdaughter has a friend whose daughter is transgender. I've met her once.

In my limited opinion, this just does not seem to be some great societal problem. All these laws and proposed laws over something that isn't a problem.

Reading and listening to some concerns by people there is a narrative that parents are forcing their kids to change genders so these kids and teachers can recruit more kids to be trans then all these trans people can run into public restrooms and either flash their private parts or molest non trans people and after they get done with that they are being trans so they can cheat at sports.

Now, I'm not saying anyone in this forum believes that. I'm just saying, IMO, there is a hysteria about trans people right now. A lot of assumptions and what-ifs or could-happens are being tossed out. They don't seem to be based on reality or need.

That's her opinion. She isn't directly saying that too anyone. It's generalized. Maybe you should take a deeper look at why you are feeling so threatened by it when you could just ignore it or agree to disagree with it.

Threatened? I don't feel threatened by anyone on here.

I feel hurt and marginalized when someone tells me that my opinion doesn't matter or is invalid because of something that was out of my control. Do you think it's inappropriate to call out when someone is marginalizing someone's opinion because of their race, gender, sexual preference, etc?

Who is talking to you? I am exaggerating to prove a point.

I am merely responding to issue in a thread, which is my job as a moderator. I handle things face to face.

All I am saying is you get your opinion. She gets hers. If you are so steadfast in your belief why let one poster throw you off? Why feel so threatened?

What point are you proving? It just begets drama to play victim with such sarcasm.

Again with the threatened..... I don't feel threatened.

Nobody is saying that the forum doesn't allow opinions. Your services here are not needed. I don't require your opinion on the rules of the forum. My posts have nothing to do with you.

If the United States decided to ban circumcision, would I be within my rights as a man to tell all women that they're not entitled to an opinion on the law because they're not men? Should only men be allowed to vote on said law? Or would I be a massive asshole because I'm telling other human beings that they're not entitled to an opinion on a societal topic that involves many people and not just the people who happen to have a piece of flesh dangling between their legs?

Nice. That's awesome.

If she directly attacked or insulted you yes, I would remove that and talk to her about that. You are taking generalized boosts personally. Why be so hurt by one person, one poster? Because she is a woman?

Because I try to be thoughtful about my opinions. I'm not a Republican. I'm not a Democrat. I try to analyze something from both sides, so yes, I find it offensive when someone decides to invalidate my opinion based on my skin, my gender, or my sexual preference.

It's called gatekeeping.

Straight cis men proclaiming themselves, at great length, experts on a subject they know nothing about.

How many of you have ever watched women's sports?
How many of you have evern met a single transgender person?

Gate
Keeping

Her being a woman is not the crux of the issue. If you told me that I'm not entitled to my opinion because I'm a straight cis man, that would also be gatekeeping. I was sarcastically attempting to prove this point when I told Sly that his opinion didn't matter.

But again, this has nothing to do with you.

Stop taking things so personally. Her posts are generalized aimed yes mostly at men. White straight men who are ignorant of the value of women's and LGBTQ rights and who are for laws to oppress them. Does that describe you? If not, don't take it personally.

Sure, it does. I'm a white straight male. I'm not taking it personally.

Your opinions are only controlled or limited by her if you allow them to be.

Is that gatekeeping?

I personally know shit about the transgender. You just asked questions that I admit I had to google the answer.

Last night I was going to say I very much doubt that a straight male would take female hormones just to compete and win as a woman. And before I hit send I realized that I actually don't know if all transgender people take hormones. So instead of making a claim or statement I know shit about I said nothing.

I bet @crandc knows the answer to this.

Maybe you do too.

Me, I don't. I don't much about this.

In my case, on the subject of the transgender, Crandc's statement is pretty accurate. If you know some about this I think that is great!

She and I do not agree on a lot of things. I try to be a champion for women's rights and LGBTQ but we do not always see eye to eye. So yes, she is often speaking to me without having the guts to directly aim her comments at me.

Example, she decided to call me out in the Ukraine thread because I said "get em boys" and then repeatedly make exaggerated claims that she was attacked for pointing out that women are fighting in Ukraine too.

I couldn't care less if she's a woman or a lesbian. I don't appreciate the way she conducts herself on this forum towards people that she disagrees with.

That's all fine and well. You don't appreciate how you percieve she conducts herself ok. You can do that and not take it personally.

If you have nothing to prove, don't try and prove it.

I just don't think intent matters in sports eligibility.

It doesn't matter if you did it to cheat, it matters if your birth gender gives you 20% more fat content and leaner muscles, etc...

This is why heavyweights aren't allowed to box down to the light weight division, but light weights can box up. The heavyweights didn't get big to cheat, it's just the way they are. And that's fine.

These are simply different classes of athlete.

480,000 student athletes each year in the US. One transgendered person has won a championship in one event.

If classes of athletes is a concern I would say we should be focusing on when the Ducks, Ohio State, 'Bama, etc. plays Eastern Podunk College in football every season. Now that is a different class of athlete that can result in serious injury. That happens many more times a year then what we're talking about.

No you haven't. But, why use mockery or sarcasm? What does it achieve?
